Discuss Ghostbusters

The original characters that everyone loves were male types, a movie about ghost hunting don't think it appeals to female audiences who are into chick flicks. Also it's a parody of pest control where you get bums or misfits as exterminators, it isn't exactly a job that appeals to many women really.

I WOULD AGREE...BUT THATS WORDED IN A VERY SEXIST WAY.

The film did have multiple demographic problems. The all female cast was clearly a gimmick, if a character is a woman it has to do with their character not due to a feminist movement. It isn't gender neutral but it really isn't relevant.

Part of what made the original work was due to it being mostly male with the characters being male types with Venkman chasing girls out of his league, the sarcasm and one liners which are things that men do, you don't get that with women.

I still think they should've focused on GB3 with a passing of the torch, then spinoff the women seperately..probably wouldn't have gotten as maligned (GB 2016 is a guilty pleasure of mine admittedly smiley )

This is true, but the extended cut has a HILARIOUS scene of Melissa Mccarthy making fun of Kristen Wiig's boyfriend's dancing ...OMG, I was dying! (close enough..lol)

Female leads tend to work better as part of a diverse cast. A boy/girl team would've been more accessible and bring in more comedic possibilities.

Usually isn't a good reason to gender swap.

The franchise hadn't been properly developed in years, there had to have been more than two Ghostbusters films in the first place to create a huge franchise.

A large part of it flopping was due to being in development hell for so long.

Being an exterminator isn't exactly a job that appeals to many women.

There should be a giant stay puft marshmello man spin off movie.

The original film has many great lines, but he was most likely the funniest part of it. Just a hilarious visual gag.

Pathetic.

YOU'RE pathetic...last I checked not ALL of us are going to have the exact same tastes. I'm sure there's a guilty pleasure of YOURS I'd find "pathetic"

Having wacky eccentric women wasn't going to resonate with anybody.

Good to see that GB2016 is still getting you guys all worked up. That was their evil plan all along. Mwa Ha Ha!!! 👻
