Juan is the handsome, irresponsible, best-loved second son. En la boda de Óscar con Ana hay mucho derroche, pese a que estamos en los años de la posguerra española. Gloria, la madre, es muy generosa y en "El jardín" hay mucho estraperlo. El hijo menor, Juan, que mantiene relaciones con Ángela, riñe con su hermano y debe irse de casa. Mientras Juan triunfa en la "corte" franquista, Ángela da a luz a Juanito. Al cabo de los años, Juanito enferma gravemente en la búsqueda de su padre. La abuela se lo arrebata a la madre para que convalezca en "El jardín", donde se le mima en exceso. Juanito intenta conseguir conocer a su padre, al que nunca ha visto y que sabe va a pasar con el séquito de Franco, pero el personaje importante que él suponía, es un simple camarero del dictador.
