Judging by that trailer, I'm wondering if the idea here is for Maverick to hand the reigns over to Miles Teller's character. Sort of how Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was intended to hand the mantle from Harrison Ford down to LaBeouf.
I've never posted pre-release/viewing on any film before, but I had to come here as soon as I caught the trailer. I'm pretty hyped about this! Some observations about the trailer:
an obvious continuation of the story, including flashbacks.
a new group of hot young bods...cause, you know...everybody gettin' old
some narrative about pilots not being necessary (maybe due to drones, etc?)
some sort of modern (space?) warfare...you can see it obviously twice, and juxtaposed with standard flight suit, etc.
TG was probably my most-watched film (and in theater no less!) as a young person. I saw it REPEATEDLY, then proceeded to go drive like a maniac! I seriously, can't wait for this to drop...praying it doesn't disappoint!
I used to be a Star Wars fan. I never saw Top Gun in the theaters (eventually caught it on VHS).
Ironically now, I have ZERO interest in seeing Rise of Skywalker.
After catching the Top Gun Maverick trailer, I am really excited to see TGMaverick next year!
Provided this latest wave of COVID doesn't mutate once again, then cause the dead to start rising from the grave /craving live human flesh. In which case, we'll be turning to Milla Jovovich and PWS Anderson to save the day, rather than Tom Cruise
Fuck Covid! This should have been gifted to us years ago!
Honestly, the "long wait" had all but ruined it...wow, what a painful few years. I can tell because I've become pretty indifferent about this or any other movie these days. Dang it!
