Discuss Hacksaw Ridge

Like, it seems, a lot of others on this board, i too was rather underwhelmed by this film...
Watching 'Apocolypto' was one of the greatest film experiences i've ever had... and when this was getting so much hype and awards attention i had high hopes... but sadly it fell a little flat for me...

However i just wanted to say that Hugo Weaving was sublime... for me, this is his best performance... not sure if i'm alone or not, but i just found him so raw and right "there" with his character... brilliant

Funny, I found Apocalypto annoying and disappointing without a doubt, and Weaving I keep hearing people say that, but I didn't like him at all in Hacksaw Ridge. To me, besides a few early Vaughn scenes, he was the weakest link in the whole thing overall. And I really liked Hacksaw Ridge. To me, Apocalypto iis far inferior to Hacksaw Ridge.

Weaving was really outstanding in this movie. He does the whole "tortured soul" role very well. I especially enjoyed his performance at the dinner table, and his scene with Desmond at the cemetary. I wish he had been in more scenes, and maybe a scene at the end of the movie when Desmond returns home from the war and has a moment with his father.

He should have gotten Oscar nominated for supporting actor. I didn't expect such deep and subtle acting from Weaving. Absolutely great!
