First, an obvious comparison to Saving Private Ryan must be made. Tom Hanks is a great actor. Brad Pitt acts like he knows he is a great actor. He spent the whole film strutting like a rooster. Even the film poster is essentially Brad Pitt strutting.

Beyond that, the film is fantasy nonsense. It’s like the writers watched Come and See and imagined the West Front was one long einsatzgruppen action from start to finish.

Good music score, however. And the pyrotechnics/ballistic effects reminded me of the realism captured in Downfall. It’s just a shame it was used to support such a terrible story. The climatic battle seemed to feature endless baddies running in circles around the tank, like a glitched video game.

The purpose was to show how screwed the American tank divisions were in Europe. It did that very well.

I liked the aspects that you hated... It's not a WWII documentary... It's suppossed to be a tank battle movie, when the odds are against you and you are outgunned... In that sense it was fun and thrilling...

It just happens to be set in WWII... It could have been in a ficitonal conflict or even in a futuristic sci-fi world and it would still be good... I didn't expect it to be a movie like Dunkirk or The Darkest Hour...

And that opening scene... Wow... I remember seeing it in cinema on the large screen... Impressive and felt larger than life which is what you want from such a movie...

this movie gives us a brief idea of how strong and large in numbers were schutzstaffel and thats nowhere close to a fantasy, carpet sweeper

I enjoyed it, but I do feel the mid-film meal scene went on too long, plus the zombie apocalypse finale was a little unrealistic. The panzer combat was well done.

Cinematography, tank combat and portrayal of life in a death trap Sherman tank were all well done. For the rest, terrible just about covers it spoilers

  • falling in love, losing love inside 10mins
  • final battle was as absurdly stupid as people say. Baffling after the earlier decent portrayal of combat. If it had been say 10-20 Nazis they could have maybe pulled it off as realistic, bit 200-300!
  • a strange desire to insinuate that war crimes were part of everyday life with the allies on the western front

4/10

This movie centers around ..... American Tanks in Germany ..... surrounded by advanced Battle Tanks and artillery. Saving Private Ryan & Downfall .... have got Nothing to do with this. Don't talk like a Toddler.

About the music ..... not only is the score good ..... the movie does very well on sound effects .... The 5.1 surround sound is Terrific .... especially in HEVC X265.
