Discuss The Devil's Advocate

I've rewatched this movie... Truly masterful. What an epic film...

Very much worth revisiting, not just for nostalgia purposes, but also to remind ourselves of the very real evil that we wrestle with on a daily basis in our modern lives...

The film is OK... legendary film critic Pauline Kael once pointed out its "hambone" quality... I feel that this quality makes many events in the film easier to accept.

Boy, Pacino really hammed it up in this one, particularly at the climax. I enjoyed him in it, though.

He's literally playing Satan... I don't know how it could be playing in an understated, sophisticated way... ;)

But the true quality in the movie is how mundane, gradual and subtle the slide towards evil is as the characters make their choices, rather than just the spectacle of Pacino's character...
