However - some questions - why did she find it necessary to lie down in a grave? What was the purpose of the mother telling her that the son had a nervous habit of pulling at his ear - nothing came of it. Why all the stares at various objects that also went nowhere. Why would the police leave her entirely alone at the conclusion of the story. In fairness that was unexpected but really quite implausible as to how it played out.
