Discuss Blazing Saddles

Mel Brooks' brand of humor became the norm and this movie is still quite good.

The farting is not quite as effective now as it was back then.

There was an internet poll for this movie that asked the question Did Blazing Saddles introduce farting to movies? The answer was, yes. BS was the first movie to use flatulence. Now I don't know who researches and catalogs that type of data grinning but since then farting has lost it's comic edge. Oddly that little bit alone defines my comment that 'Society' has moved on.

I still find the farting funny. The same as when I see a penis scribbled on a wall in marker pen. It's hilarious because somebody made the decision to do it to bring joy to others. Bless the puerile.

One movie, two words, Fist Fight!

Haha, not seen. You're saying it's puerile?

Puerile: ADJECTIVE childishly silly and trivial. A movie about two adult teachers engaging in a Fist Fight?

Haven't seen it yet. To get a fun take on the movie check out the Double Toasted Fist Fight Movie review on youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cDv5i0yNtXc

I see, the giant meat and two veg trick, lol. Could be an amusing film if just for Ice Cube getting angry.

Done right, I too still laugh at a fart joke.

Doesn't matter. Farts = funny ;-) https://youtu.be/VPIP9KXdmO0

My father is a very serious man but I remember him laughing for some time at this scene.

Farts have always been and always will be funny... what adds to the humour is that they were still eating their beans 😂

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly had a fart joke. It was much more subtle than what Mel Brooks gave us, but it did precede Blazing Saddles.

This is a clever, hilarious film.

The campfire scene I believe y'all are talking about is gross and unclassy, however.

But it made me laugh. He rises below vulgarity.

Ha-ha. Sometimes Mel's just vulgar. From what I've seen, it's like there's a joke in each film to disturb me. Like "Pizza the Hutt" in Spaceballs, for example.

I remember watching that in the theater. When the stormtroopers (or whatever silly name they were called) were ordered to comb the desert, they used a giant comb. I groaned out loud at the bad pun. Then a black stormtrooper used humongous afro pick. I was like WTF???
