바람둥이 청년 마이크와 도박이라면 사죽을 못쓰는 대니는 비행사인데 늘 돈에 쪼들려 고생하다 그나마 먹고 살 밑천인 비행기마저 저당 잡히게 된다. 돈을 벌 생각으로 여행을 떠난 두 친구는 중국인 농부와 그의 조카딸 수린이 타고 가던 차에 얻어 타게 되고, 그들을 따라 시애틀에서 열리는 세계 박람회로 가게 된다. 대니는 아는 사람이 일자리를 구해줄 거라며 그를 찾아가고 마이크는 수린을 박람회장에 데려가준다. 하루종일 군것질을 하다 배탈난 수린을 데리고 박람회장 내의 병원을 찾아간 마이크는 간호사 다이앤을 보고 첫눈에 반해서 꼬마애에게 자신의 다리를 걷어차게 해서 부상을 입으면서까지 다시 그녀를 찾는다. 다이앤이 마이크를 돌봐주면서 둘의 사이는 좋아질 듯 하지만, 마이크의 다친 다리가 자작극이었다는 것을 안 다이앤은 화를 내며 떠난다.
Two rivals are out to recover a cache of stolen jewels. The thief who originally stole them has just gotten out of prison, however, and he is looking for his twin brother, who knows where the jewels are hidden. Complications ensue.
