Il film non ha né trama né dialogo. Si tratta di un collage di vari filmati, spesso accelerati o rallentati, che vogliono principalmente raffigurare lo sviluppo della civiltà attuale così come la conosciamo noi. Il film guida lo spettatore attraverso un viaggio che inizia con la natura per passare successivamente all'intervento dell'uomo e diventa sempre più frenetico, il tutto sottolineato da una colonna sonora minimalista.

Consumata dall’odio nei confronti del marito per le sue continue infedeltà, la moglie vuole vendicarsi di lui ma finisce per infliggere un colpo fatale al figlio e poi scompare sopraffatta dal senso di colpa. Per il figlio che versa in una condizione miserevole a causa sua, il padre cerca di fare qualcosa solo per rendersi conto che il ragazzo non può guarire. Allora l’uomo si priva della virilità che è stata l’origine di tanta miseria e si dedica anima e corpo al bambino. Di conseguenza la ferita in un certo modo si rimargina, ma un giorno la moglie torna a casa e la famiglia precipita verso una distruzione ancora più orrenda.

In compagnia di due mucche, un pollo con una zampa sola e le galline, il maiale con la sua routine scardina le prospettive della narrazione, raccontando una storia profonda.

Regista ed autore delle musiche, seguendo il loro particolare filo conduttore, in questo film concentrano tutta la loro attenzione sul lavoro dell'uomo, sull'opulenza dell'occidente e le inutili fatiche del terzo mondo, dopo aver affrontato la contrapposizione tra la natura e il lavoro dell'uomo in 'Koyaanisqatsi'.

The use of X-rays on two sculptures from the Bilbao Fine Arts Museum generates images that reveal certain elements of them that would otherwise be invisible to our eyes. These images, despite being generally created for technical or scientific purposes, seem to produce a certain form of 'photogénie': they lend the radiographed objects a new appearance that lies somewhere between the material and the ethereal, endowing them with a vaporous and spectral quality. It is not by chance that physics and phantasmagoria share the term 'spectrum' in their vocabulary.
