Discuss The Stand

Apparently it's being remade. Does anybody know anything about it? I really liked this movie, but it's not aging well and needs a remake because the story is awesome!

Apparently, it's been delayed and the director will be making Revival first - http://www.denofgeek.com/movies/the-stand/38763/the-stand-movie-delayed-stephen-kings-revival-fast-tracked

I hope it stays reasonably close to the novel. That was one thing that I really liked about the 1994 mini-series.

As long as it's good, I don't mind even if it doesn't. smiling_imp

I love the original but can admit it's not holding up to well. It was the catalyst that sparked my love of reading so no matter what it was always have a spot in my favorites list . I look foward to the remake but will have trouble seeing anyone else but Gary Sinise play Stu!

I've heard they want to re-make Matrix. Can you imagine anyone else as Neo? Replacing Gary Sinise pales in comparison. Although since Reeves is a zombie i suppose he could still play Neo in the remake.

Edit: Vampire, not a zombie. I'm tired.

Hahaha seems way to soon for a matrix remake! (Keanu reeves is a bit of an odd actor but I did enjoy John Wick and always took pity on the personal tragedy he endured.) I look foward to seeing the casting choices of the stand. Last I heard they're also remaking Stephen King's It and it had some potentially decent casting choices from what I've seen of the pictures. I'm especially interested to see who they cast as Fran and Nick.

I'm coulrophobic, so it's all the same to me.

Usually the closer a movie adaptation is to the source novel, the better I like it. There are a few exceptions to this, however: the 1950 version of King Solomon's Mines, and the 1953 War of the Worlds are two that come to mind.

The 1992 Bram Stoker's Dracula film by Coppola was an example of a film that did not work at all, at least for me. The book portrayed an epic battle between good and evil (the English vs the Count) while the film changed the very theme of the book to that of a sappy love story between Mina and the Count, which was not even hinted at in the book,. And yet BSD was touted as extremely faithful to the source novel. Sorry, but it isn't.

I just hope that the remake of The Stand is not another BSD.

I'll say it will be decent. If they adopt the comic and get a great director it will be excellent.
