Kore fait une découverte bouleversante concernant les travaux de son père.

Tallinn s'aventure dans le subconscient de Picard pour l'aider à sortir du coma, et affronter à la fois ses secrets les plus sombres et ses peurs les plus profondes. Redoutant que Jurati ne succombe au monstre en elle, Seven et Raffi se lancent à sa poursuite. Rios s'efforce de cacher sa véritable identité à Teresa.

Le lancement de la Mission Europe approche. Picard et Guinan, emprisonnés par le FBI, tentent de se libérer. Seven et Raffi retrouvent Jurati et découvrent l'abomination qu'elle est devenue.

Picard et son équipage luttent pour leur survie, tandis qu'un vieil ennemi les attaque sous une nouvelle forme. Mais pour y parvenir, Picard doit affronter les fantômes de son passé. Seven et Raffi vivent une confrontation finale avec Jurati.
