苍泽佑美 ( 竹内结子 饰) 跟同事莫名其妙地被大公司裁员，一直期待自己能被需要的佑美开始思索并且寻找下一个工作。一天，她穿著和服在街上奔跑著，急著要去打工面试的她，却遇上了麻烦。樱井礼次郎 ( 阿部宽 饰 ) 路过帮了她的忙， 可是却对她说穿和服的她像只金鱼，佑美以为礼次郎是个想搭讪的无聊男子。

来到面试的出版社，佑美意外地当上了礼次郎的临时助理，协助礼次郎完成人间蒸发式的为期三个月的漫画创作，同时要照顾他的生活，于是他们一起来到佑美哥哥（阵内孝则 饰）工作的“柚原”温泉馆进行闭关创作。 [2] 在这里，两位主人公与老板娘和店内员工们发生了一系列有趣的故事，这三个月的工作会顺利吗？笑颜的法则又是什么呢？

Yumi, a 23-year-old office worker, is fired from her job out of the blue. A few days later, coming from a friend's wedding and having no time to change out of her kimono, she is rushing to an interview for a job at a publishing company. Yumi stumbles into the room, looking for somewhere to change out of her kimono, and finds popular comic book writer Reijiro Sakurai is having an editorial meeting with some staff. He is planning to lock himself away at a hot spring for the next three months to concentrate on his next project. Sakurai comments that if Yumi were to join him he wouldn't mind being away for so long..., and so their adventure begins.

Yumi, une employée de bureau de 23 ans, est renvoyée de son emploi. Quelques jours plus tard, venant du mariage d'une amie et n'ayant pas le temps d'enlever de son kimono, elle se précipite à une entrevue pour un emploi dans une maison d'édition. Elle rencontre alors Reijiro Sakurai, auteur populaire de bandes dessinées. Celui-ci prévoit de s'enfermer dans un Onsen pendant les trois prochains mois pour se concentrer sur son prochain projet. Hors, le frère de Yumi travaille dans un des onsen préselectionnés. Sakurai impose alors Yumi comme correspondante avec sa rédaction alors qu'elle n'est même pas une employée de la société.
