That's a really bad policy. I can understand if it's a true mini-series (perhaps three or more parts) but a movie that is played across two evenings due to length should still be considered a movie. It's a single movie on a DVD and keeping it listed in TV Shows breaks the way that I would assume most people will have it added to their movie collections. Just my two cents.

Thanks for the response. The file I have is a single file; I use Plex as my media server. The trouble I'm having is that the Plex agent won't match the movie on themoviedb.com because I guess it's listed as a TV Show on themoviedb.com.
I still think that the policy is flawed. To me, TV shows are apparent series like The Office, Doctor Who, Gunsmoke, or The Simpsons. Even media that gets cancelled but was intended to be a series, like Firefly, should fall under TV Shows. Maybe the whole "TV" is throwing things off. Maybe they should just be called "Movies" and "Regular Series". Either way, I recognize that the concept gets gray at times. Thanks so much!

Yes, I get what you're saying and I'm not expecting a policy change based on my sole opinion; I'm sure this topic has been debated among more invested individuals than me.
I was just hoping to help you understand my point. If the topic ever gets opened again, maybe you (clearly someone more invested) could at least share my thoughts. All theory aside, in practice, it just seems more logical for themoviedb.com to establish the standard rather then letting countless production companies with varying motives and standards categorize the media.
As for my issue, I'm not having a multi-episode problem (the media is presented as one complete movie on the DVD), but rather a filing issue. Basically, under the current policy, I'd have to put movies into my TV Show library just to make themoviedb.com match them. It would likely get to be real fun when movie night comes around trying to remember which movies are really TV shows. It just seems silly.
I'd support a policy that categorizes most media as "Movies", including movies aired on television across the course of two to three evenings (such as Jesus of Nazareth (1977)).
TV Shows (or simply "Series") as:
Of course, then there is another question begging to be asked. Why even have the distinction? Allow the user to file in his or her library according to his or her preferences and just allow themoviedb.com to match either movies or TV shows.
Thanks for the patience in hearing me out and all the responses!
