Emma Banville, a human rights lawyer known for defending lost causes, sets out to prove the innocence of Kevin Russell, who was convicted for the murder of a school girl 14 years earlier.

Kevin faces abuse from the public as Emma takes drastic measures to get the case back on track. Miriam makes a call that has devastating consequences for Emma.

With Greenwood withholding vital information that Emma needs about Tony Pullings' whereabouts and Emma refusing to disclose Yusef's hiding place, the pair are at a stalemate.
