Discuss Marvel's Cloak & Dagger

What a bizarre, cringeworthy line. The series has been written really well up to this point, You really notice how the quality drops when the writers are trying to preach instead of write. It was surreal when he said "check your privilege", because I could absolutely not imagine Tyrone's character uttering these words.

The thing is, the scene almost worked really well. Let's not forget that Tandy can get away with more because she is a young pretty girl, more than because she Is white. That would have worked well, because we the audience would have recognised it as being true.

When every single day some white person is calling the cops on some black person for the smallest thing(e.g not saying hi back to them), hoping for a violent confrontation to happen, YOU'LL know exactly why he feels this way. It's bad enough to have some gangbangers stray bullet or them misidentifying you as someone else, but getting the cops involved in something as trivial as jaywalking is a farking nightmare. I live this every farking day, my white friends even see it when we pulled over.

I agree. It does get annoying with that. These people who are calling the police should be arrested and fined.

Only if the ghetto is now being considered the whole country Note everything that follows the four minute mark

Violence against blacks and other minorities by the police doesn't only happen in the ghettos, happens a lot in the suburbs as well. Also happens to people who aren't poor (college professors, professionals, etc). It's easy to blame things on gangs and criminals, but its not only them that find themselves at the wrong end of a gun or the anger of law enforcement. I'm not black (though I have brown skin), and I've had guns pointed at me by police just cause I was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Fortunately, I never got shot (mostly cause I kept a clear head, as I have no fear of guns).

I did think that was out of place to give a black lives matter speech in the middle of the scene. I thought that was completely unnecessary. I watch these shows to get away from political speeches
