Discuss Preacher

I enjoyed it but would be amiss not to point out that it was quite all over the place after about halfway through its run.

Camera work, sound, set design and acting are all of the highest quality - technically it's top notch.

Storyline started strong but whimpered towards lacklustre after the midpoint of the series, as nice as it was to see the Saint of Killer's background we'd already gone over that in season one. Tulip's big secret was that she was married to the mob, Cassidy really didn't get expanded upon at all (Despite being a father) and Jesse just ambled about waiting for Herr Starr to establish the bigger picture.

Perhaps with Marie L'Angelle coming into the story we'll have a change of venue and a change of pace. Season 1 and the first half of season 2 had pep, if they can add that back in again and give us just a few more titbits of action and comedy it could right itself for season 3 and who knows, maybe we'll get that eye patch of Jesse for season 4.

What are your thoughts on Preacher Season 2?

To be honest I think the season was boring. Sad to say it but it is just so slow. Feels like nothing is happening. The first episode was good, but after they landed in Dennis' apartment I felt the show almost stopped. There was little progress. Jesse did nothing, Tulip did nothing, Cassidy and Dennis did nothing together and the Arseface-sideplot went nowhere.

I fear that season 3 will be the same. The first episode will establish them with the L'Angelles but then we will get a lot of filler episodes where they are doing nothing in that place.

Thinking about it the real problem with this show is that they don't have any interesting stories to tell. They have a clear endgame, Jesse finding God. But this can't happen until the end of the show. Wwe don't know when the show will end, so for now they are just filling the show with uninteresting sideplots we don't need. They need to give Jesse a purpose, something to do that matters.

I would almost want a "monster of the week"-type progression where they have stories that are resolved in one or two episodes. Besides the major plot of finding God. Send Jesse, Tulip and Cassidy on the road, let them met various weird situations inspired by or lifted from the comics.

I didn't like how they changed Tulips character from being so badass and had strong to how she was for 2nd half of season 2

Where season one was fun, had great characters, and a compelling arc; two had none of the listed. Sure a funny ep here and there (Humperdoo was good, for example) but nothing else was the least bit interesting. I saw Evil Denis coming a mile away. Hitler and Areface were useless diversions (tho I am mildly interested in what Adolf will end up doing in the modern world. Arseface can vanish or he can get plastic surgery from heaven, track down Jessie, and give him some "hell" for sending him there). And I agree with @Melanie that they wimped out on Tulip; making her maudlin and weak after her encounter with the Saint.

That the show has bee renewed is a total surprise. It is a 0.3 in the ratings! So the show must have friends in high places. Seems to me Seth and Co. ditched the hands on when it came to season two hoping maybe it would write itself as it was lifted from the comic, but no it did not. Perhaps they promised to get more involved if the show was renewed??

I did love Casidy as always he adds humor for sure! I didn't know it was picked up for s3! I'll see watxh but the need a better story line for it. It'll be interesting to see if they bring Tulip back to life!!

I think the madame will indeed bring her back but as she warned young Jessie about the chicken, "There is always a price". We do no not know of course what price Jessie paid (unless Genesis is the price - tho that seems to be on the fritz now). Chances are like every other back from the dead story, Tulip won't quite be the same Tulip. hat would be a sigh for me as well as it's all been done before (the classic story "The Monkey's Paw" I think was the first to have a dead person return only... well... still dead).

I think the first half of the season was great. High energy, stuff actually happened. And the last half was filler and meandering. Pretty unfortunate since I loved the first season.
