Extra Details: I don't know if this is only specific to my use case but tagging all posters as japanese seems problematic in case you try to receive informations for another language (german for example). Kodi doesn't show any poster images then.

If a poster is in Japanese, it belongs to the Japanese translation. From your description, it sounds like that's an issue with Kodi, not with TMDB's data.
