Discuss Crazy Ex-Girlfriend

Anyone happy with it? I guess focusing on Rebecca's purpose in life rather than her romantic life showed her moving away from crazy, but it still felt less than satisfying.

I was disappointed. One of the things that attracted me to this show was the Rebecca and Josh pairing. Rebecca dropped everything and moved across the country just to have a chance at love. And at the end of it all Josh loved Rebecca in spite of all her crazy. To me it seemed like destiny.

The trope of a woman having to choose between two or more men is also way over done and cliche. Rebecca isn't even that good looking. Let's be honest.

It promotes a bad message to young women telling them that they should reject love.

Rebecca is going to die lonely. She can be fulfilled to some degree by songwriting. But that doesn't take the place of love and family. There is no higher purpose in life than that. It's not like she couldn't be a wife and mother and still be a songwriter.

The entire final season was kind of a disappointment actually. They could have done without bringing back Greg and all the rehashing and lame jokes that came with that. It had some funny moments for sure, but it's the worst season of the lot. The only satisfaction I'm feeling right now is knowing that this show is over.

I appreciate hearing your thoughts. Good point about Greg. Why bring him back? A two-horse race between Josh and Nathaniel would have been enough especially if they weren't going to resolve it any way. The songs also seem to lack some spark in the final season. My favorite was "Child Star" and that did not involve any series regulars and was almost a weird stand-alone episode where Rebecca had a half brother. Oh well, onto the next big thing. Hope there are more shows with singing. Too bad Rise didn't make it

I'm going to miss this show esp the musical parts. I immediately rewatched the very first episode and it was really fun to watch Rebecca to love Josh. But with how Josh progressed in the series (random, clueless, immature - even if he had therapy, can't even clean) I didn't think about them being together again, not until when Rebecca had a flash back of the times they kissed (few episodes back) - I also forgot that he was such a fun love interest for Rebecca. Nathaniel felt more toxic? Like Rebecca only liked him cos she was spiraling that time. His stories are more fun if not related to Rebecca. And Greg...it could have been a funny one episode just for Rebecca to see how Greg improved, even forgiving her for sleeping with his dad. More for a Rebecca reflection would be fine with me- not to be another love interest! The 3 dates were a bit cringe but if I really had to choose (or bet) - Josh Chan. The thing I enjoyed most was Rebecca & Paula and the concert as fan service.

Maybe in a few years this will be a stage musical, and story will be better?

Paula and Rebecca were special. As I have more time to ponder all this, I am more comfortable with the ending as Rebecca being happy with herself. I guess that is an important first step to being ready for a relationship. Maybe Netflix will do a movie where all four of them find love.

I'm satisfied with it. It's not about rejecting love, it's realizing that before you can truly be in love with somebody else, you have to be in love with yourself, and that means also taking the time to try and find yourself. I had a feeling it would go this way, because this show is not a romantic comedy. It may have started that way, but it took a very different direction when Rebecca's issues started to be addressed properly. That new course also gave a completely different meaning to the first seasons, so that maybe it has never truly been a romantic comedy. It's a story about Rebecca's journey through herself, and to realize that she first focused on other problems, such as the obsession with Josh.
