Discuss Colony

He has a history of lying to his parents and getting in way over his head. He doesn't consider the impact his actions will have on his parents. Taking his little sister without even leaving a note for his mother to let her know they are alright shows that he doesn't consider or care what effect it will have on Katie when she wakes up and finds both of her surviving children missing. Bram showed how he justified his actions when he told Gracie he wanted to take her somewhere safe. While that sentiment can be appreciated it doesn't explain how he could justify putting his mother through the nightmare of waking to find Gracie missing and having no idea what happened to her. Bram could have left a note saying "I've taken Gracie somewhere safe since you guys are fighting in a war and she isn't safe here." If he cared at all for his mother he would have done that much.

Katie and Bram have both acted impulsively and gotten the family into trouble. Katie finally seemed to consider the consequences of her headstrong actions after her insistence that they leave the cabin and join the resistance camp led to Charlie's death. It's one thing to commit oneself to fighting in a resistance movement, and something else entirely to drag young children into the war zone along with you. I guess Bram comes by his impulsivity naturally.
Also, Bram strikes me as the kind of kid who could easily wind up joining a cult. He joined that red hand group, buying into their ideology completely. He shows no remorse for the mistakes he makes or the trouble he gets into, and he isn't grateful to his parents for their help. It's easy to dislike Bram. Or as another viewer commented on another site: "Basically my ideal next episode of Colony always begins with Bram drowning in a bucket of diarrhea, and the rest of the characters shrugging and carrying on, never to speak of it again."

[Snyder has shown himself to be much more ambitious than I figured him to be. He seemed to be an apple shining middle management sort of guy, adept at office politics. But now he is participating in killing people, torturing people for information, etc.
Of course this is television so anything can happen. But a brown nosing bureaucrat doesn't suddenly get a taste for killing like that in real life. He was as calm and un-bothered as he could be when his partner strangled that outlier. Snyder prevented him pulling his weapon, cool as a cucumber. This is a big change. ]

^ This.

It's easy to dislike Bram.

It sure is.

And his family saying "oh well, the good son is gone already. That one doesn't count."

Hopefully someone will prevail upon the network to at least give us a short season to rapidly tie up the story lines.

I wonder if whomever came up with the idea for this show had the whole story line mapped out. I think that normally there is a general outline. LOST wasn't like that; it was made up as they went along that first season. It made it hard to tie it all together, so I read, but I thought they did a good job of it. Anyway I wonder how this story was meant to unfold, if there was a particular end to the story. Obviously there was a battle coming where the aliens faced off against their alien enemies. Would they be an ally to us?

Maybe someone can rework the idea and pitch it again, maybe to another network, I don't know.

That would be wonderful, but I don't see that happening 😥 the way they just up and dumped it.

The main thing we were all waiting to find out. Seems like they were just winging it and didn't have the whole story line mapped out.

wink
