Discuss Marvel's Daredevil

For once you have a woman who finds out her man's secret life and doesn't chew him out or get all uptight, instead she embraces it. It makes perfect sense why Fisk would go through all that trouble to protect her, she loves him for who he is evil and all and doesn't pull a Skyler White on him.

Then Breaking Bad would turn into Ozark, which is far inferior.

I've not seen Ozark mainly because I find Jason Bateman to be unwatchable but I might give it a shot just to analyze it.

Yeah its not like Walter life style put the family in danger or got any of them killed or anything. Walter put his pride above all else he might of started out with good attentions to set his family up after his death but that quickly changed.

Well, being a police officer going after criminals can put your family in danger and we constantly see the wife of cops in movies getting mad at their husbands for doing their jobs. That's not the issue. The issue is about a wife sticking by her husband.

Imagine if Skyler was the one cooking meth. Do you think Walter would go out and cheat on her and then try to drown himself in a pool or would he stick by her? Outside of cheating there's almost nothing a woman can do to cause her man to turn on her. It was just nice to see a woman stick by her man even though he is clearly doing bad things. That is true love.

Skyler has more depth than Kingpin or Vanessa. It's easy being Vanessa, cuz you can fall head over feet over power, money, position, etc. (Spoiler alert...) You can tell Vanessa didn't really love Kingpin, cuz she was distant from him, and demanded to be involved in his basement operation, ie. tugging his heart strings. After which, she 'loved' him again.

Plus, what about when Skyler used a carwash to launder meth $? Plus caring for their two children? And being literally butt-hurt from Walter? I think it can be slightly insensitive to say that she's selfish in trying to drown herself. Cuz isn't that's the beauty of Breaking Bad, where the extreme lows & highs are well-scripted & believable? (unlike Ozark, which is immature & one-dimensional. But credits to hiring the right actors with similar attributes.)

Sticking by your man is an old adage (eg. from the Bible). You can see Daredevil's trysts (with Claire the nurse & Karen the secretary), well, they didn't agree with him sometimes. Thus, did that mean that they didn't love him at then? After witnessing his fragility & temper, they sought the better from Matt Murdock, not from the Devil of Hell's Kitchen. Otherwise being enamored & subservient would be the easier route, and maybe lame... (eg. from having daddy issues).

Thx for discussing ^_^

Well Skyler had way more screen time than either of those characters so yes, technically true, but general audiences hated her character far more. Skyler was extremely unlikeable. I know I personally lost all respect for that character when she cheated on Walter and then threw it in his face.

Skyler only helped Walter at that point to protect herself, not for him, not because she believed in him. Again, I think people hated her character because of how two-faced she was. And I don't give points for taking care of the kids because...

...how is she going to take care of her kids if she suicides herself? Like I said, she was selfish. It's been a few years since I've seen the series but I don't remember Skyler doing anything that didn't serve her own interest. Now you can make that claim about Walter, he did do some awful things, but many of those awful things were to protect Jesse or his family.

There are a lot of old adages that people like to see. And Claire was a nurse who saved people and Karen put herself in harm's way to save people. They had noble traits and didn't directly try to jeopardize Matt or try to expose him. They are much more likeable characters than Skyler. And at least Claire broke up with Matt before she started sleeping with Luke.

But you are right, ultimately neither stuck it out with Matt, which is why I liked the relationship between Fisk and Vanessa. It is just so rare to see a female character actually supporting her man unconditionally, but it seems they can only show this with villian characters and not hero characters.
