Discuss Ascension

Item: Ascension

Language: fr-FR

Type of Problem: Incorrect_content

Extra Details: Why is the edition locked on 3 episodes? There are originally 6 (six) episodes and no 3! (3 concerns a replay with another editing very slightly different) They were programmed two by two but independently with each a generic! So there is (that's what I have) a generic for each episode and gather two by two, so we end up having to paste 2 episodes with 2 generics including one in the middle? ! it's absurd Reference: in French - https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ascension_(mini-série)#Liste_des_épisodes

in English - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ascension_(miniseries)#Episodes => "Ascension is a 2014 Canadian/American science fiction mystery drama television miniseries which aired on CBC in Canada and Syfy in the United States. It consists of six 43 minute episodes."

The IMDB information is a remixing of a redifusion: entire sequences have been moved (including the first sequence on earth that is no longer in its original place)

If you can not edit, because there has been a redundancy in three compacted parts, then you have to create another entry for the original broadcast. Can I add another entry?

Thanks for your report! slight_smile

Please read the old discussion about the same issue from 2017 here:

https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/60741-ascension/discuss/591c2d4c9251414add008cc3

(EDIT: I'm sorry, this old discussion was private, so you couldn't see this before. I made it public now, so you can access it.)

Most likely, moderator @Banana locked this content in 2017 based on this information:

"As far as I call tell, it aired in three episodes on Syfy: http://www.syfy.com/ascension/episodes"

The link is dead now, but you can still read this in the Wayback Machine here:

https://web.archive.org/web/20170604162009/http://www.syfy.com/ascension/episodes

If you think that was the original airing, we have to have proof of that! We have to have an official source of that!

in French - https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ascension_(mini-série)#Liste_des_épisodes
in English - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ascension_(miniseries)#Episodes =>
"Ascension is a 2014 Canadian/American science fiction mystery drama television miniseries which aired on CBC in Canada and Syfy in the United States. It consists of six 43 minute episodes."

Wikipedia is not an official source! What we need is a source that proves that CBC and/or Syfy aired this show originally in 6 episodes. @Banana linked to the proof that it was aired in 3 episodes!

The IMDB information is a remixing of a redifusion: entire sequences have been moved (including the first sequence on earth that is no longer in its original place)

IMDb is also not an official source and quite often wrong for tv entries.

No, please don't create a new entry. It would be considered a duplicate and be deleted by us moderators, eventually.

What you can do: Find proof that the original broadcast was 6 episodes!

it's not a discussion, this is only Banana's opinion

proof ?

each episode has its credits: there is a sequence of 30 seconds, then arrive at the bottom left the name of the principal actors, during 3' and towards 3:30 the starry sky which becomes the stars of the American flag arrives with the title: ascent. This 6 times! explain me why would the producer have done that if there were only 3 episodes?

proof ?

titles, doubles! all over ! including in the original language

english: part1 and part 2

french: Journey to the unknown / The Globus

German: Loreleis Tod / Der Verdächtige

Italianish: Capitolo 1, part of the prima eparta seconda

etc etc etc

why would not it be up to him to prove that there are only 3 episodes and to explain to us why the credits arrive 6 times?

How many episodes (= Chapters) do you see? eyeglasses

This is/was the official website for the show "Ascension" on the tv network SyFy on January 10th, 2015. Syfy was the first network on which the show originally premiered. They announced the show in official trailers (for example, this one) as a "3 Night Event". It aired from December 15th to 17th, 2014. So, the official website that you see when you click on the link above -> that's a month after the series aired on SyFy.

@Banana based his decision on this website! It's an official website! Not a fan site, not a user generated website, not a hoax. It's the official site for the show on the official network. And it seems very trustworthy!

If you want even more proof from me -> please check the official twitter and facebook account of the show here:

https://twitter.com/AscensionSyfy
https://www.facebook.com/ascensionsyfy

You can find several contemporary references for the fact that this show originally aired in 3 episodes over 3 nights on SyFy. Here is 1 re-tweet, for example:

https://twitter.com/AscensionSyfy/status/545647377080930305

So, we have an official website plus 2 official social media channels that both prove that "Ascension" originally aired in 3 episodes. rocket

Which version of the show do you watch? Do you watch a copy/stream of the original airing? Or do you watch a foreign/subtitled version? I did some searching on a few streaming platforms, and I find a version with 3 episodes that were titled "Night 1", "Night 2" and "Night 3" - all of them were longer than 1 hour without any credits in the middle. I assume that's the version that originally aired on SyFy.

why would not it be up to him to prove that there are only 3 episodes and to explain to us why the credits arrive 6 times?

@Banana already posted the link above as proof. And I just explained the rest. I close this discussion, because it should be obvious that the show originally aired in 3 episodes, not 6. comet
