Hi all, Just wondering what the policy is meant to be in regards to the specials numbering and the relationship to thetvdb - for the most part, they are the same, but there's a few annoying differences: The Doctor, the Widow and the Wardrobe - e47 vs e48. Twice Upon a Time - e151 vs e154 Resolution - e152 vs 156.
As a bigger point, I'll just raise that for a show like Doctor Who using Specials in the way you might do it for other shows is just really not appropriate. You have a mix of REAL Full Episodes, supplementary bonus material - a lot are about 3 minutes long and is barely more than an advert, but new material. And then you just have a huge collection of, "This is sort of related to Doctor Who, so let's just shove it in there" (There's 10 Greatest Monsters and Villains "episodes" in there) Without redesigning the structure completely, if it was up to me (which obviously, it's not) I would be culling everything from the Specials area that isn't a real full episode (probably about 15 of the 150 current episodes). Yes this would remove some great extras that would be great to have a list of (Specifically Time Crash and Space/Time) but there is such a huge difference between a real full episode and everything else.
Anyway, please forgive the rant, I'm sure that what does and doesn't count as a Doctor Who special has been argued a hundred times and it's impossible to make everyone happy.

Well, we have different guidelines. So you can expect the numbering to be different when a series as so much special/extra content. The main guidelines are that we do not allow movies or duplicate content. Pretty much everything else is fine. One could argue that Doctor Who: Greatest Monsters & Villains should instead be a separate TV entry. But if you only want the proper 15 or so special episodes, you can always use an alternative order (episode groups).
