Discuss The Fosters

TBI is serious - at least it is in real life. My aunt suffered a TBI in a car wreck when she was in college. She had to relearn how to walk and talk, but she has permanent brain damage - impaired logic, mood swings, slurred speech, personality changes. I never got to know who she was before her accident because it was before I was born.

I doubt Jesus will be permanently altered like this. It's too bleak for a TV show, even one as heavy as The Fosters has become. I predict he will miraculously recover within a season.

I'm sure he will too. Most Characters of TV shows have miracles that happen to them when some sort of tragedy strikes. I think he might be like this for the rest of this season and perhaps even into the next season. Time will tell though.

Recently found this show on Amazon and I am currently half way into season 4. After I accepted the shortcomings of this show: it has an amazing number of extraordinary coincidences and miraculous resolutions; the timeline of events is very truncated; and many legal processes are conveniently simplified; after all that I found it quite good overall. The actors are all strong, some excellent. The girl playing Mariana deserves special mention imo. The themes are also quite well handled I think. Just realistic enough to be believable and yet serious. The central thesis of a loving family of 'society's rejects' has held true so far. I like that none of the characters are 'perfect' far from it, yet it is indisputable that all the Fosters love each other which is the essential point. As a foil to the 70s or 80s Cosby style family, the Fosters present a more realistic view of family life; it doesn't shrink from criticizing the greater culture either and it completely skewers the foster care system in the US today. For that, I am willing to tolerate the rather cursory approach it sometimes takes with certain really serious problems such a Jesus' TBI
