You'd think that with a popular TV series, this forum would have all kinds of post. There has been no one posting anything, and the premiere of season 3 was last night. This place ought to be poppin'.
Oh well, maybe one day tmdb.com will reach imdb's traffic.

The problem is HBO keeps airing so many other shows that many viewers don't care to watch.
And as a result of not watching them, one doesn't see ADS for other shows like this one and doesn't know when they're scheduled to air again.
Previously one popular show would be instantly replaced by another one, for example, which meant viewers would constantly watch HBO.
But with the newest selection they have to offer and with so many weeks or months before another show airs that one wants to watch, one doesn't watch the HBO channel as much anymore.
So thanks for the heads up and letting us know TD is back again.
Did you enjoy watching it??
What happened???
Hopefully it will also be LOADED to ON DEMAND, but lately that's also been still another problem, because and they also don't UPDATE new episodes of shows the way they use to do which also means someone who wants to view a show and can't watch it SUNDAY night also can't watch it ON DEMAND where it's suppose to be available to them either.
Just checked and in this area ON DEMAND has 2 EPISODES of S3 available now.
So what you watched last night must have also be the 2ND EPISODE???
Which means the show was first aired LAST SUNDAY???
Which probably also means you yourself haven't seen the first episode of it yet???

Found this which explains how it's been more than 3 YEARS since the last episode of S2 aired:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/True_Detective_(season_3)
So one can also add the RIDICULOUSLY LONG LENGTH of TIME since the last season aired to the list of other ISSUES.
And The latest selection of shows that HBO has had to offer us has definitely declined and SUCKED BIGTIME Lion.
And the better shows they air have also become few and far in between the other ones that they air (the one's one doesn't care to watch).
Also just checked and in this area ON DEMAND has 2 EPISODES of S3 available now.
So apparently what Salt & Limes watched last night must have also be the 2ND EPISODE of TD???
Which also means the first eppy of the show was first aired LAST SUNDAY???
Which probably also means S&L hasn't seen the first episode of it yet either and incorrectly assumed the 2nd one was the first one???
According to the link above the REVIEWS for S3 have also been GOOD ONES:
Here's still another link that REVIEWS what happened so far in S3:

Actually, the first 2 episodes of season 3 aired on Sunday 1/13/2019. They decided to air the first 2 episodes the same night.

In entertainment, like in life, good things happen when we learn from our public mistakes. At least that seems to be the moral of the story for Nic Pizzolatto, the driving force behind HBO’s “True Detective” anthology TV series, which premiered the *first two episodes of the third season on Sunday, January 13. *

Thanks for the link and for letting us know that both EPISODES aired on the SAME NIGHT S&L.
What the link says about the show sounds intriguing … LOVE the way it says the FEMALE character has EQUAL POWER with the MALE character … which is also a REFRESHING thing to hear.
Because what it calls POISONOUS MASCULINITY does seem to have DOMINATED other shows like THE SOPRANOS to the point where one only gave a damn about watching the FEMALE characters in that show (hence only watching it because Tony's WIFE and his SHRINK were in it) due to the way the male characters were so ONE DIMENSIONAL, STEROTYPICAL and BORING.
Which brings us to the OTHER ISSUE it mentions regarding S2, which it claims wasn't as good as S1. Because Unlike the case is with others, one also DISAGREES with that kind of an opinion, and feels S2 was BETTER than S1 ( due to the way the story WRAPS UP better and MADE MORE SENSE in S2).
Because S1 was also FULL of FALSE LEADS, such as the scene where WOODY's character finds his girls playing with dolls where they'd created the SAME RAPE SCENE as we saw in the video (thus leading one to expect WOODY himself might also be a member of the group of RAPISTS).
And when one discovers the KILLER was the LAWN MOWER MAN, who was only seen for a SECOND or TWO a couple of times during the ENTIRE SEASON, that also PISSES ONE OFF and makes one feel like they've WASTED one's time watching the show which leads one to suspect other characters of being the KILLER.
But since the conclusion of S2 didn't have that problem, one didn't feel CHEATED like they did at the end of S1.
And it was also refreshing to have the FEMALE DETECTIVE as a LEAD character who also demonstrates her IMPRESSIVE ability with the KNIFE (by attacking the DUMMY with it while her sister watched), the sister who also tries to warn her that where she's going her SKILLS with the KNIFE would probably also not do her any good (due to the way they also DRUG HER before she meets the clients she's been hired to please).
Anyhow, it's nice to read about how AWARE the writer of the show is in regards to the GENDER ISSUE and how he's made an effort to try to OVERCOME the POISONOUS MASCULINITY that one finds present in so many of these HBO SHOWS.
And as a HUGE FAN of DAVID LYNCH, one will also MISS the OTHER AVANT GARDE or SURREALISTIC aspects that one found present in S1 of the show, but one also suspects to IMMENSELY ENJOY watching what it calls Ali's wife being his TRUE ACTING FOIL (which also reminds one of the other HBO story called BIG LITTLE LIES ... where one of the FEMALES GOT RID of the other male character ... who like TONY SOPRANO was also full of way TOO MUCH POISONOUS MASCULINITY) .
ONE SIDED stories like THE SOPRANOS where MALES DOMINATE the screen for MOST of the TIME and WIN most of the AWARDS definitely need to be challenged.
And it also sounds like S3 of this show is WISE to have tried to seek out some kind of a BALANCE this time (which, imo, was also MISSING and LACKING back in S1).

Does anyone else think the story is going to end with Wayne using what he has sitting inside of the NIGHTSTAND??
As you may recall, he also makes a remark when the story begins about not forgetting about it (right before we also see him open up the drawer to it which reveals he has a GUN sitting inside of it).
It's also curious that his son would let it remain sitting there inside of it (especially once the dementia progressed to the point where his father finds himself standing there at the deserted street corner in a state of confusion while still dressed in his pajamas).
That scene also seems to have a MOMENTO vibe to it (hinting that the entire story may also be a complete fabrication).
Because in that other story we also discover the INSURANCE investigator who is telling the story to us was also telling us the story of one what had happened to one of his clients. And then we also see a quick flash where we see the client is replaced by the insurance investigator himself who's a patient inside of a hospital.
Still another film that comes to mind is MULHOLLAND DRIVE where the MAIN CHARACTER supposedly shoots herself with the PISTOL that she keeps inside of the NIGHT STAND.
So could this story also be one where the MAIN character telling us the story is confused because he's tried to kill himself, has failed, and then falsely assumes his memory problems are caused by dementia when the problem is brain damage which is a result of his attempted suicide ???
Or … maybe the confusion comes from the EXPLOSION that takes place at the end of EP. 4???
And maybe what happens is Wayne will KILL someone else in his confused state of mind that he thinks KILLED Julie's brother WILL???

Honestly, I was so completely turned off by season 2 that I have completely forgotten about this series. How has this season been so far? Worth for me to sign up my HBOGO account?

Yes MN this season has been EXCELLENT so far, and, imo, it's also worth it to sign up if that's what you need to do.
It also looks like there's more than just one character or the ONE detective who is dealing with certain ISSUES that involve children and one's relationship with them.
In other words, it also looks like there's at least 3 or 4 characters who are dealing with very similar or the same kind of ISSUES.
But that probably also won't occur to you until you get HALF WAY through the story to EP 4.
Here's the GIST of it:
DECTECTIVE WAYNE HAYES (PURPLE HAYES) has ISSUES with his MISSING daughter
TOM PURCELL has a MISSING daughter named JULIE.
The TRASH MAN also has 2 MISSING children.
Mr. HOYT (who we haven't met yet) had a GRAND CHILD and now runs an OUTREACH ORGAINIZATION for KIDS.
In the last eppy there was also a VERY TRIPPY scene where PURPLE HAYES (who also served 2 TOURS in VIET NAM) had a bunch of VIETNAMESE GHOSTS standing behind him. His job when he was over there was also to TRACK and HUNT them DOWN in the JUNGLE (where he SCALPS them) before the other US soldiers went into the area.
So that's also the reason why the GHOSTS were there HAUNTING him.

Ok, I trust your tastes Invidia. There is a reason why we keep bumping into each other on movie boards since the IMDB days.
. I will sign up for it tonight and start watching. I was going to sign up HBO for Game of Thrones but that isn't until April but I will give this a whirl. I really liked the first season but the second season was hot garbage.

If you liked S1 you'll most likely also like S3, because there also seems to be a connection of some kind between them (even though the writers also deny this in interviews).
But when you see the DETECTIVE from S3 ( who was a tracker in NAM and is HAUNTED by the GHOSTS) sitting in front of a board where you see the CROWN of THORNES hanging on it along with a copy of the CROOKED SPIRAL inside of it (ITEMS that were also found on the body of the DEAD GIRL from back in S1) then why should anyone trust what the writers said???
Whoever kidnapped the girl (JULIE) also placed some kind of WEIRD LOOKING FACELESS DOLL that was dressed up like a BRIDE into her Halloween bag. And that Weird DOLL (made out of some kind of grass material) was also found at the place where she disappeared along with other WEIRD LOOKING DOLLS.
If you scroll down a bit, You can see an image of it here:

As for S2, I also like it better than S1, because the ENDING of S1 was such a BIG LETDOWN with the KILLER turning out to be the LAWN MOWER guy who we'd only seen a couple of times for a couple of SECONDS each time.
So the ENDING eppy of S1 also left me PLENTY PISSED OFF and feeling like the rest of the episodes leading up to the CONCLUSION of it were a DELIBERATELY MISLEADING RIP OFF.
The TRIPPY parts of S1 were ok, but, imo, the WRAP UP of it SUCKED BIGTIME.
Hopefully that's also not going to be a problem this time, and the CONCLUSION of S3 will have a much better ENDING where one won't feel so DISSATISFIED.
The GHOSTS from VIET NAM who HAUNT the detective can also be seen here if you PAUSE it at the 1:42 TIME MARK:
