Tuttavia, prima che Yuma e Astral possano raggiungerlo, un misterioso ragazzo che dice di essere un cacciatore di numeri e con la capacità di fermare il tempo (grazie al suo robot, Orbital 7), Kite Tenjo, lo sconfigge in un duello e prende con la forza la sua carta numero, lasciandolo molto vecchio, per poi andarsene. Mentre il fratello minore di Kite, Hart, usa i rifiuti di Heartland City per attaccare il mondo Astrale, Kite parla con il Signor Heartland, che a sua colta parla poi con il Dottor Faker, da cui prende ordini, che cerca di ottenere tutte le carte numero per distruggere il mondo Astrale.
