In a video essay for his application to college, Simon recounts the experiences of his family members including their relationships, friends and mistakes that they've made over the years in Glenoak as well as his own pain at having killed a young boy in a car accident earlier in the year.

Brenda Camden and Nixon return to town with their one-year-old son Oliver, as the couple try to keep their news a secret but can't seem to that they are expecting their second child together, giving more happiness within the family. Eliza Jones returns to town finding out she's going to be a great-grandmother again bringing happiness to her. Brenda and Nixon take Oliver and return to New York after business gets in the way of family time together. Eliza heads back to Texas to celebrate the news there with her family.

Sandy starts falling for a handsome doctor, and Martin may not be able to handle it. Elsewhere, T-Bone and Ruthie want to do something romantic for Valentine's Day, and they profess their love for each other in an unusual way.
