Discuss Once Upon a Time

Out of ten, how would you rate the episode, and what would your official consensus be?

The special effects are pretty poor again, along with some acting. The script and execution meh. Wasn't Rumple human during the first ogre war. Is that not the one he ran away from, leading him in his path. CS engagement was not impressive. Robert Carlyle's acting shows he's pretty much done with OUAT.

Gideon is actually not boring. It happens with almost everyone of OUAT's villains. They do nothing until the end. Glad Gideon is being fleshed out without unnecessary flashbacks and has a plot instead of spontaneous monologues and wandering around town. I like that Rumple is being a good person, although it was a bit jarring as I suspected him not to. It was a pleasant surprise, actually. Until the end.

They did well with the script, flashbacks.

Zelena and Robin pairing was kind of random. And the Evil Queen...back?! UGH.

Baelfire was OOC the whole time.

Liked the Rumple/Belle hug.

That episode was terrible. Easily one of the worst episodes of this show ever.

I didn't care for it at all. It was one of the worst in recent memory imo. This back-half of the season has been very lackluster in general so far; it feels kind of like they are phoning it in because they know the show is ending...

I liked the Rumple and Belle moments, but that's about it.

The special effects have always been bad to me. Most times I am able to ignore it (like bad acting in a soap opera), but sometimes it is so bad that it takes me out of the story momentarily... and that happened in this episode. lol

ETA: I can't believe I forgot to mention Hook's proposal... I guess it was that forgettable. lol. I'm a Emma/Hook fan, but I was hoping for a better proposal. He goes in there to confess about killing David's dad and then ends up proposing instead... such a clichéd twist. I was hoping for more for them. :/

Bae ordering Rumpel to kill Bewoulf was so out of character as to just be nonsensical. In Season 1 when August pretended to be Baelfire and tried to use the dagger on Rumpel, Rumpel was then certain that he was not Baelfire because Bae would never do that. Bae was right up until this moment and all the moments after this moment until he fell through the portal and all through his adulthood completely against Rumpel using his dark magic. That scene was so ridiculous and makes no sense at all.

Why not just have Rumpel ask Bae for the dagger instead, say i know you can't do it son, let me. It could have paralleled the event in the present day instead of contrasting it. This show is so badly written as to be ridiculous.

Also, like hardly any Emma for two episodes in a row. Emma was a completely out of character in that bizarre proposal scene and Hook was drunk and lying and hiding a murder. He seems the same as ever.

I have never watched a show where the characters are inconsistent and ridiculous as this one. The writers have no clue what they are doing.

Glad it was not just me! My issue primarily was that Rumple had the dagger on him in the present. He always had it hidden in his shop or buried out in the woods just so that no one could ever get it from him (magically or otherwise). In this ep it is on his person thus making it easy for Gideon to grab it and command his dad. The flashback Rumple I can understand not maybe quite understanding the vulnerability the dagger puts him in and not hiding it but in the present? Made no sense he would have it so casually in his coat! But guess it was a writer decision to move the story along. Sacrificing continuity for the sake of plot is never a wise move.

As for the lackluster performances? Yeah indeed seemed everyone was MIA for this one.

I'd rate this one a 3.
