Bo has been living on the run from her strange appetites and what havoc they wreak. After leaving someone she kills out in the open, she is contacted by a group called The Fae. She discovers who and what she is, and is told to join one of two tribes.

When Dyson wakes up bloody and without the last eight hours of memory, he finds himself accused of murdering Ba'al, a close associate of The Morrigan's pet psychopath, Vex, and takes refuge in Trick's bar, invoking sanctuary.

The Morrigan enlists Bo's help to find a tortured graffiti artist under her employ. The young painter has killed a Dark Fae, and his urban murals are exposing Fae secrets all over town – with The Morrigan on the hook for his actions. In exchange for her help with the case, The Morrigan offers Bo information on breaking The Ash's hold on Lauren.

What Bo uncovers while investigating the mysterious disappearance of human backpackers threatens her own fine physique. Meanwhile, the new man in Bo’s life sets events in motion that force Kenzi to make a desperate choice.

In the wake of emotional losses, Trick reveals his deepest secret to Bo. Bo realizes there is no turning back and she must go to any extreme, which includes aligning herself with a sworn enemy, to take on a battle that could decide the fate of the Fae.
