Jonathan runs into his wife but because he has a new name and form she doesn't recognize him. He goes to see her and asks if he and Mark could stay. She at first wouldn't let them but when he says, ""keep smiling"" which is something he always says in his ld form, she let them in. They see that she is lonely and their daughter lives far away and doesn't want to take the time to visit. Jonathan sends Mark to see his daughter and asks her to come visit her mother but she and her husband refuse to do so. When Jonathan learns of this he goes to her in the guise of a gigolo, and he riles them and they visit her.

Jonathan helps a brainy but severly obese girl named Jenny gain self-esteem and deal with ridicule from her ""friends."" At one point, the snotty girls invite Jenny over to model a swimsuit, predictably leading to humiliation and the girl to gorge herself with doughnuts. Jonathan tells her the girls aren't her friends and helps her see that she has many other gifts people appreciate.
Meanwhile, the angel sees that the jock (named Jack) that Jenny is tutoring needs to have his ego shaken, particularly since he considers the girl unsightly due to her weight. Jack had wanted to have a pretty cheerleader help him, but of course Jonathan can see where that is headed.

Alex finally meets the family of his dreams, those dreams are soon shattered when the turners want to adopt Alex. Alex wants to take Jake with him but the Foster family lives in a place where dogs aren't allowed.
In order to make his dream come true Alex runs away with Jake back to the family he first fell in love with. Michele and Paul had been hoping to have a baby on their own but soon learn that adoption maybe their best option.

Jonathon gets a 'feeling' while he and Mark are driving towards their next job. He goes to the hospital to find his wife is near death and was calling for him. After she passes away Jonathon believes that he will no longer be working for the 'boss' and will go to be with his wife. To the answer of lightning and thunder he finds out otherwise and becomes enraged. He is then stripped of his 'stuff' and has to live as a mere mortal.
While at the beach one night he sees a young woman who he thinks is the spirit of his wife. As he runs to her he sees a beautiful young woman who walks into the ocean attempting to kill herself. Jonathon saves her and the 2 forge a friendship...
