山田奈绪子是一个有着美丽外表有些迷糊却思维灵敏的女魔术师，她相信世界上没有超能力的存在，相信一切不可思议现象都可以用魔术来实现。上田次郎是一个整天埋首在实验室，不相信任何非自然现象的科学家，他相信世界上任何事情都能用科学去解释。本剧以一位已故伟大魔术师的女儿及物理学家为主轴。描写它们如何揭穿可疑宗教教主以任何所谓超能力来诈骗他人的圈套。

劇情由自稱天才魔術師的 山田奈緒子（仲間由紀惠 飾）及日本科技技術大學物理系副教授 上田次郎（阿部寬 飾）的組合，所解開許多隱藏在奇異事件下的圈套所組成。

Hoewel de 23-jarige Yamada Naoko een 'super'-goochelaar is, wordt ze voortdurend ontslagen en voortdurend opgejaagd door haar hospita omdat de huur te laat is. Nadat ze opnieuw is ontslagen, laat haar baas haar een advertentie zien van een hoogleraar natuurkunde, een niet-gelovige in alles wat magisch is, die geld aanbiedt aan iedereen die hem kan bewijzen dat magie echt is. Naoko heeft het geld wanhopig nodig en accepteert de uitdaging, en zo ontmoet ze professor Ueda. Ueda valt ten prooi aan haar eenvoudige goocheltrucs en is onder de indruk. Ze schakelt Naoko in om hem te helpen de trucs achter een plaatselijke sekte te ontdekken. Hun hilarische capriolen, samen met die van politieagent Yabe, leiden hen naar nog meer mysteries, allemaal met trucs die moeten worden opgelost in een soort 'X-Files' ontmoet 'Scooby-Doo'...

Although 23 year old Yamada Naoko is a "super" magician, she is continously fired and constantly hounded by her landlady for the rent being late. After being fired once again, her boss shows her an ad of a physics professor, a non-believer of all things magical, offering money to anyone who can prove to him that magic is real. Desperately needing the money, Naoko accepts the challenge, which is how she comes to meet Professor Ueda. Falling prey to her simple magic tricks, Ueda is impressed, and enlists Naoko to help him uncover the tricks behind a local cult. Their hilarious antics, along with those of police officer Yabe, leads them onto further mysteries, all with tricks needing to be solved in sort of an "X-Files" meets "Scooby-Doo"...

Naoko est venue à Tokyo pour devenir une grande magicienne, comme son père, mais elle a du mal à trouver un emploi. Tout les pouvoirs et phénomènes surnaturels s'expliquent par des trucs de la " magie " et qui a un truc. Elle rencontre Ueda qui se présente comme le chercheur plus brillant du monde quand il passe une annonce pour assister à un phénomène surnaturel qu'il ne saurait expliquer. Les deux affrontent alors des médiums, des groupes sectaires, des diseuses de bonne aventure, etc. pour résoudre les mystère et les croyances douteux pour démontrer l'astuce et l'escroquerie.
