It appear to have aired on TV in Spain, Italy and Germany sometimes around November/December 1983.

But I can't find evidence of the 1x10 miniseries version screening in the UK. According to this BBC radio host, it failed to capture the interest of the big US/UK distributor. He said that up until 1984, the many versions of the film mostly screened at festivals and art/benefit thingy. As far as I can tell, he's right.

The first proper US release I found is a 4x60 min version with added narration. The four parts series aired on PBS's Great Performances on four consecutive Fridays starting October 24, 1986.
