A young bike courier picks himself off the ground in a city alley. Unsure how he got there, he takes a closer look around and meets Sarah, a ghost, she clues him in to the world of the dead.

Sarah tutors Zach on ghost rules and warns him about the dark spirit he saw in the alleyway and sends Zach to attend his wake where he gets schooled by Sam, the spirit of a dead rapper whose wake is happening in the same funeral parlor.

Danny's presence at the wake infuriates Zach, who unleashes some ghostly energy on the living.

The spirit world is definitely getting stronger as Zach wreaks havoc on unsuspecting Danny.

Danny can’t escape his living nightmare while Zach interrogates him in his dreams.

Melinda si sposa con Jim: durante i festeggiamenti vede uno spirito attraverso il vetro della finestra. Per la prima volta Melinda si accorge di non potersi separare da lui; in realtà, si tratta di un marine, Paul Adams, deceduto in una battaglia che vuole lasciare un messaggio al figlio.

Melinda e Andrea recuperano degli oggetti d'antiquariato da un vecchio orfanotrofio che sta per essere demolito. Mentre ripuliscono la cantina dell'edificio, Melinda scopre la presenza delle anime di tre bambini e di un cane, morti durante un incendio nel 1956 e che non vogliono "passare oltre".

Jason, adolescente scontroso, è morto aggredito da uno sciame di api alle quali è allergico: la tragedia è avvenuta subito dopo che Jason aveva scoperto che quella che ha sempre considerato sua madre in realtà era adottiva. Jason vuole che Melinda trovi la sua vera madre e le chieda come mai non l'ha voluto.

Melinda, Jim e Andrea frequentano il Comedy Cave, luogo dove comici affermati e dilettanti si esibiscono dal vivo. Lo spirito di Marty Golden, un vecchio comico del locale morto suicida, tormenta i comici che salgono sul palco e Melinda deve aiutarlo a dargli pace.

Todd, un giovane molto schivo e riservato, va ad abitare nella casa accanto a quella di Melinda e Jim. Melinda deve proteggere Todd perché lo spirito di Lyle, il nonno della sua vecchia fidanzata, vuole ucciderlo: il motivo è che Lyle crede che Todd sia l'assassino di sua nipote Stacy.

Jim, Melinda e Andrea sono stati invitati alla mostra di un pittore morto impiccato con l'accusa di omicidio. Sua figlia Leslie pretende che Bobby, l'avvocato al quale il padre ha lasciato in eredità i dipinti, le restituisca tutti i quadri.

Lo spirito di Sarah, l'amica d'infanzia di Melinda morta per una malattia genetica, vuole che aiuti sua madre Grace che sta nascondendo all'ex marito di soffrire della stessa patologia di cui è morta Sarah.

Andrea è tormentata da uno spirito: Melinda scopre che si tratta di Dennis, ex collega di Andrea ai tempi in cui stava a Washington. Dennis dice a Melinda di essere morto durante un'escursione in montagna per spargere le ceneri del defunto padre e che suo fratello è ancora vivo, ma è intrappolato.

Melinda e Jim devono badare alla neonata della stilista Christine che è minacciata dallo spirito del primogenito Daniel. Melinda scopre che Daniel è arrabbiato perché sua madre lo trascurava e vuole che Melinda lo metta in contatto con Suzanne, una baby-sitter alla quale era legatissimo.

Melinda e Andrea vanno al circo e assistono allo spettacolo di Ambrose, il fratello del defunto mago Edward Pierce. Melinda percepisce subito la presenza dello spirito del mago e cerca di capire perché non sia ancora trapassato.

Lo spirito di Ely, un uomo afroamericano ucciso da un suo collega bianco nel 1970 durante un litigio per futili motivi, perseguita il giudice Merrick che, pur avendo prove a sufficienza, non condannò il colpevole dell'omicidio. Melinda cerca di scoprire cosa accadde veramente quella notte.

After purchasing a set of ornaments at a flea market, Melinda finds that they are haunted. Melinda uses the ornaments to meet Dennis’s ghost. Dennis wants Melinda to reunite his girlfriend with her birth mother.

The ghost of a man who was buried in the wrong grave starts to haunt a cemetery as someone else’s wife is coming to mourn him every night. Melinda must reconcile the man with his hostile wife and daughter in order for him to be able to cross-over.

Jim has a ghost who died during surgery come to his dreams. Melinda and Jim find that the ghost, a supermodel, cannot cross-over as she wants to save her little sister from suffering the same destiny. Jim's friends are frightened by the crazy events that occur at his house.

Melinda and Jim's first camping trip is interrupted as Melinda helps the ghost of a woman who left her husband and young daughter. Before the woman can cross over Melinda must find the woman’s daughter and help her to learn the truth about her parent’s past in order for her to be safe now.

The ghost of chef who died in a fire at a Chinese restaurant meets Melinda after the restaurant he died in burns for a second time. He demands that Melinda go out and find the person that really set the fire he was blamed for.

When Melinda meets a nightclub waiter who has not played his guitar since his friend died, she finds that he is being haunted by two ghosts.

A high school baseball pitcher Justin finds that he is haunted by the former baseball star pitcher. The ghost is out for revenge on the coach who he blames for his death.

Ned lies to his mom and sneaks out to go to the drag races. At the end the ghost finds closure and crosses over into the light.

Melinda gives a speech on her career at Grandview High. While she’s at the school she sees a group of cheerleaders who are having some mean and vicious things happening to them just as their cheerleading semi-finals are approaching in just a few days. Melinda discovers that the dead cheerleader can’t cross over and someone else has been casting spells on the squad.

Melinda helps Ned deal with a ghost who had just put a scare into him. Melinda also helps a ghost who appears to without any clothes on. Delia sees that Melinda is once again talking to herself and Melinda decides it’s time to share her gift with Delia.

Melinda meets a man who has the same abilities to see and talk to the dead. Melinda later learns that he has a different plan for the dead. A ghost enlists Professor Payne to help Melinda.

Five accidents, and four signs, something else is going to happen. Melinda becomes concerned for the safety of the people she loves when a ghost prophet shows her visions of the future. The fellow Ghost Whisperer, who Melinda doesn't trust is still in Grandview.

Melinda visits the Mayor of Grandview and asks him to cancel the memorial dedication they are holding. She speaks to the ghost of a mail person and is looking for a young girl named Kristen. Later, Melinda and Professor Payne search for missing children after their Nanny says that they left with a man named Gabriel. Meanwhile, a mysterious man tries to get Melinda to stop helping the good guys.
