Náhlá letecká invaze mimozemšťanů a jejich výtvorů, strojových forem života, přivedla lidstvo na pokraj zániku. Přeživší lidé, kteří našli útočiště na Měsíci, zorganizují s pomocí androidích vojáků protiútok, aby získali Zemi zpět.

Válka se však zastaví, protože formy života strojů se neustále množí. Na oplátku lidstvo nasadí novou jednotku androidních vojáků jako ultimátní zbraň: YoRHa. 2B je nově vyslán na Zemi a připojuje se k analytikovi 9S, který je zde umístěn, a během své mise se setkává s řadou záhadných jevů...

Toto je příběh těchto androidů bez života a jejich nekonečného boje o lidskost.

Při vyhledávání v terénu byly objeveny nové údaje, které nebyly zapsány do stávajícího archivu.

Tato strojová životní forma však již neměla vůli bojovat.

Strojová životní forma našla malý květinový prstenec.

Strojová životní forma cítila, jak se v ní začíná rodit něco tajemné.

Jednotky YoRHa 2B a 9S zachránily skupinu hnutí odporu před útokem strojových forem života. Velitelka jednotky Odporu identifikovaná jako ＜Lily＞ je vede na jejich základnu, tábor Odporu.

Během pobytu v táboře získají jednotky 2B a 9S od člena Odboje identifikovaného jako ＜Jackass＞ informace o unikátních strojových formách života.

Je zjištěno, že tyto informace existují ve stejných parametrech vyšetřovací mise, která byla přidělena jednotkám 2B a 9S.
