In this episode, Tobey's mother "accidentally" sells his master remote and it ends up in the hands of Johnson, who presents it to TJ, the president of the International WordGirl Fanclub, as his club dues. She pulls off a robbery at the bank, but tricks the police that the security guard did by having them close their eyes "for a surprise" while she puts a stack of bills into the security guard's pocket, then giving them cookies so as not to arouse suspicion. WordGirl, who heard of the robbery on the news, arrives on the scene, but too late–Granny May has already "foiled" the crime.
