While I agree that it tells great human stories it seems less relevant on a desert island. The Wire is ultimately about the slow decay of the American city and the failure of institutions. Out in the middle of nowhere, a lot of the wider themes about society seem like it wouldn't be as relevant as you are no longer in a society.
