Bronco Layne returns to his Texas hometown after fighting for the Confederacy in the Civil War, but faces the hostility of townspeople who believe he's a traitor and a murderer who killed his fiancé's brother.

Bronco reluctantly works to help an outlaw rob a gold shipment, knowing that any disruption of the man's plans will result in the death of his hostage.

Bronco has his wagon train marked for extinction by an ex-guerrilla leader.
