Now Hill Street Blues had it's fair share of light hearted moments, but not so much with Buntz (and I dont think Franz was renowned for his comedy, although he is still better than De Niro on that count :p). I couldn't believe this show was real when I recently read about it. I checked out a couple of episodes and still can't believe it. What were the writers Lewis and Milch thinking with such a bold change of tack!?

Is there anything comparable with a character going into a spin-off show with a completely different genre?
