本作品由六个故事组成，分别为《年夜饭》、《青年有为》、《非常夏日》、《向往》、《青春永驻》、《来碗鸭血粉丝汤》，整体定名为《约定》，寓意“2020年全面建成小康社会”是党和国家与人民的幸福约定。在这个大的“约定”背景下，每个故事由一个个小约定串联而成。这些约定有的是主人公与自己的、有的是与老友的、有的是与家人的、甚至是与陌生人的约定。六个故事情感上涉及亲情、爱情、友情；主角年龄层从少年到老年；地域从城市到农村，从农民到工人，到白领精英。《约定》通过丰富的视角，来展现人们在实现与自己、与他人、与国家“约定”的幸福感。

　　 In the context of this big "appointment", each story is composed of a series of small agreements. Some of these agreements are with the protagonist and himself, some with old friends, some with his family, and even with strangers. The six stories emotionally involve family affection, love, and friendship; the protagonist's age ranges from teenagers to old age; the regions range from urban to rural areas, from farmers to workers, to white-collar elites. "Promise" uses a rich perspective to show that people are fulfilling their "promise" happiness with themselves, with others, and with the country.

Οι έξι ιστορίες περιλαμβάνουν οικογενειακή στοργή, αγάπη και φιλία. Η ηλικία των πρωταγωνιστών κυμαίνεται από εφήβους έως μεγάλη ηλικία. Οι περιφέρειες κυμαίνονται από αστικές έως αγροτικές περιοχές. Το "Promise" χρησιμοποιεί μια πλούσια προοπτική για να δείξει ότι οι άνθρωποι εκπληρώνουν την "υπόσχεσή" τους, ευτυχία με τον εαυτό τους, με τους άλλους και με τη χώρα.
