Ching Dynasty enjoyed its climax of rule under HONG HEI and YUNG CHING and then it has started weakening after that. The officers are so corrupted and incompetent that rebellions become common in all parts OT China. Foreign countries also arrive at China to scramble over the country. The British officer ROBINSON sees that his companies are attacked. He uses this as an excuse to force the Ching government to, give compensation as well as open trading ports. Although SUK SHUN and the others are reluctant, they have to agree as they are threatened by fire arms. HAM FUNG seeks advice from LIM PO SHAN, who is in charge of observing the astronomy. On the other hand, HAM FUNG indulges in sex and other enjoyment. SHAN tricks ROBINSON by surrounding him. Then he claims that he has finished the task by using magic. HAM FUNG is convinced and trusts him……

HUNG CHING has received education in the western world and now he acts as an architect in the town. He regards "Fung Shui" as a kind of superstition and always has conflicts with the local inhabitants over this matter. HUNG and MING bride and force the others to propose them to be the best owner of the lantern. Though CHING discloses their dirty intention, the others do not listen to him. On the day of voting, the KO's and CHING have a close tie and with CHUNG's advice, CHING gets the lantern. The KO's are angry with them. As KAU finds that CHUNG has the special ability in foretelling fate, he wants CHUNG to help him win in the casino. However at the critical moment, KEI comes and spoils their plan. Hatred between them is deepened. MING is angry and sends people to steal CHING's lantern and destroys the others' property……

When the thief wants to leave, he meets SHAN who comes to look for the grave cavern. As SHAN wants to keep the secret, he kills the thief. SHAN's people find CHUNG and want to kill him however they are stopped by SHAN as SHAN senses CHUNG's extraordinary ability. LIN always quarrels with the local people as she has been influenced by the western culture and regards "Fung Shui" as ridiculous. LIN admires CHING but CHING regards the country as his most important career, thus LIN has to wait for him. CHUNG meets LIN and is attracted by her charm. As he does not know the relationship between LIN and CHING, he decides to win over her heart. SHAN meets KEI and knows that she is a good fortune-teller. He has an intimate feeling of her but he dares not to approach her. In fact KEI is SHAN's daughter……

CHUNG helps WONG to run his own shop but the business is not good. Later he discovers that WONG's shop has been cursed by KEI. KEI is employed by WONG's competitor whose shop is found opposite to WONG's. CHUNG is discontented and he decides to help WONG with geomancy. They have a close tie. Confronting with so many difficulties, WONG's is in despair and argues with his wife. CHUNG is upset and tries to compromise with KEI to solve the situation between the couple and the shops. However they discover that WONG and his opponent have become good friends. They find that they have done something irrelevant. CHUNG tries to stay close to LIN but LIN's heart has been occupied by CHING. CHING goes for business and on his way, he meets YU in an inn and soon they become good friends……

YU meets CHING on his way and is saved by him. YU is touched by CHING's chivalrous act and he tries to persuade CHING to join Tin Lei Sect. However CHING refuses. CHUNG finds that LIN does not show her feeling of him. He is confused, he prays but receives no answer. KAU encourages him and he finds his hope again. From time to time, he misinterprets LIN, thinking that she also loves him. SHAN uses the special condition created by "Nine Planets In A Straight Queue" and wants to transfuse the essence to the royal family. However an outlet is created in the process and the essence leaks. He instructs his students to block the cave or there will be a disaster in ten days. MING entangles LIN in the street and he is stopped by CHING. They quarrel and MING decides to curse CHING, making him poisoned and suffer. CHING does not know it and no one can cure him. MING is also cursed in return……

CHUNG is depressed as he realises that LIN loves HUNG only and he is inferior when compared with HUNG. He wanders in the countryside where he meets KEI and he tells her his feeling. This solves the opposing situation between them. SHAN finds that CHUNG has special talent in fortune-telling and he brings CHUNG to the palace to be his apprentice. At the beginning, CHUNG does not want to go as he misses KAU and LIN. At last he is convinced by KAU and decides to serve the royal family. Before he leaves, SHAN asks BO to arrange a meeting between KEI and him but KEI refuses. Although SHAN manages to stop the leakage of essence, he is blamed by HAM FUNG as he has not found the grave cavern. The government decides to rebuild the Tin Tung Town which has been destroyed by the earthquake. MING bribes the officer as he wants to be the contract builder. However SUNG is not impressed……

CHI HEI is brought to the palace but HAM FUNG is not attracted by her. After giving birth to SHUN CHI, she does not win any respect and is always humiliated by the others. In order to win HAM FUNG's trust, CHI HEI uses her own meat to prepare medicine to cure him. HAM FUNG feels guilty and treats her in a better way. SHAN instructs BO to arrange an extravagant banquet so that he can admit to be KEI's father in the occasion. However KEI ignores him as she feels being abandoned for so many years. BO's wife tells KEI that SHAN has special reasons. KEI is not completely convinced but she agrees to go with SHAN. MING gets the job to rebuild the temple. However he tricks the others by using second class materials. CHING discovers this and warns him. MING takes a faster step and accuse CHING, stating that CHING falsely accuses MING for personal hatred. CHING is imprisoned.

SUNG takes MING's money and gives CHING heavy sentence. At last ON uses all their fortune to make CHING be released. CHING is released and finds that SUNG changes the accusation to SUI. CHING is discontented and decides to fight for justice. CHING collects evidence to prove SUNG's corrupted act. He wants to threaten SUNG so as to set SUI free. However SUNG is made angry and puts him behind bars again. CHUNG has great progress in divination and his colleagues are jealous with him. CHUNG meets KEI again and they are glad to see each other. ON begs SUNG again but SUNG ignores his words. He beats him hard. ON goes to tell CHING everything and then he dies. CHING begs SUNG to release him so that he can run the funeral for ON. SUNG refuses and they have a fight. In chaos, CHING kills SUNG. CHING runs away with LIN and his mother……

SHEUNG is going to give birth to a baby. CHI HEI worries much and forces SHUN CHI to learn speaking. However, it does not work. CHUNG has mercy on CHI HEI and uses his knowledge in "Fung Shui" to change HAM FUNG's attitude towards them. This changes CHI HEI's fate. SUK SHUN is afraid that HAM FUNG wi11 be veiled by CHI HEI. Thus he asks SHAN to help him. SHAN tries to use magic to make SHUN CHI an idiot again. CHUNG knows it and is convinced by CHI HEI to spoil SHAN's work. SHAN does not know that it is CHUNG who has interrupted him. He thinks that his master has returned. CHING, LIN and his mother go to seek CHUNG. CHUNG asks SUK SHUN to help CHING. However SUK SHUN and SUNG are relatives and he wants to arrest CHING. CHUNG turns to CHI HEI and CHI HEI gives him a hand as she know that CHUNG is helpful to her future. She helps CHUNG to resist SUK SHUN and SHAN.

CHI HEI persuades HAM FUNG to appoint SHUN CHI as the next emperor. HAM FUNG is convinced and he also releases those imprisoned to gather fame for his son. CHING thinks that he will also become free under the new order. SUK SHUN wants to kill him before the arrival of the official announcement. Luckily it arrives just in time to save CHING. SUK SHUN is discontented and accuses CHI HEI in front of HAM FUNG. However HAM FUNG has no interest in their argument. SUK SHUN discovers that CHI HEI is supported by CHUNG and he asks SHAN to transfer CHUNG to a barren region so as to weaken CHI HEI's power. With KEI's assistance, CHUNG finds the" Dragonfly Dipping Water". He rushes to tell SHAN.

CHUNG thinks that he has finished the task and should be rewarded by the royal family. However SHAN is jealous and spoils his opportunity to report his work. SHAN finds the sign of "The Fall of The Dragon's Ball". He asks CHUNG to see what is going to happen. CHUNG regards that it foretells the emperor's death. SHAN wants to trap him and encourages him to tell HAM FUNG. HAM FUNG is in great anger after hearing CHUNG's report. He wants to kill CHUNG. CHUNG explains that the sign also foretells the birth of a girl and at the moment, HAM FUNG's daughter has been given birth to. HAM FUNG is impressed and trusts CHUNG. CHING and his mother return home to bury his father. On their way, they are attacked by SUK SHUN's people. His mother is killed and CHING determines to avenge. CHING and LIN have to stay away from the soldiers and they take refuge in Tin Lei Sect……

SHAN finds that if HAM FUNG marries FA KEI, CHI HEI's fate will be spoiled. He introduces FA KEI to HAM FUNG and the emperor is attracted. However FA KEI is not attracted by fortune and instead she regards freedom as more important. She begs SHAN to ask HAM RUNG not to marry her. SHAN pretends that his words are not accepted by HAM FUNG though he has tried his best. Having no other choices, FA KEI begs CHUNG to help her. CHUNG seeks help from CHI HEI, who is afraid that HAM FUNG will turn away from her. She persuades HAM FUNG to give up the marriage as the country is in crisis but HAM RUNG ignores her. As FA KEI knows CHUNG also loves her, she suggests to elope together. However SHAN tricks FA KEI, making her to stay while CHUNG leave. Members of Tin Lei Sect try to find the twelve armours so as to spoil the "Fung Shui" of Ching. CHING and LIN also work hard for this……

SHAN forces CHUNG to tell where the members of Tin Lei Sect are. CHUNG refuses to tell and SHAN gives order to kill CHUNG. FA KEI tries to stop SHAN's act. She threatens SHAN that if CHUNG is killed, she will kill herself. At last SHAN has to release CHUNG reluctantly. Members of Tin Lei Sect want to bury one of the armours in a bad burial cavern so as to harm to Ching Dynasty. To make it effective, there should be nineteen poisonous snakes to be buried together. LIN goes to buy them in the market. This discloses their hiding place. YU and CHING keep the armour and run away while LIN has got lost. LIN has been arrested and will be killed three days later. In order to save LIN, CHING gives the armour to SUK SHUN but it is too late and LIN dies. FA KEI wants to change her fate by making herself being adopted by LAU, who has just recently died. CHUNG is sent to Hong Kong and he meets SUEN……

Being reminded by NG, CHUNG does not eat any bread. As the other foreigners eat the bread, all are poisoned. CHUNG is suspected by the police. Being helped by SUEN, CHUNG finds NG and NG gives CHUNG the hint that TUNG is the one poisoning the foreigners. TUNG does it as he is angry for the foreigners taking land from Chinese. At last CHUNG is proved innocent. CHUNG thanks NG and NG reminds him that SHAN may do him some harm. To protect CHUNG, NG reminds him not to show off too much. FA KEI tells HAM FUNG that her fate is too harsh and will affect HAM FUNG adversely. HAM FUNG does not believe her completely and as he loves her so much, he still wants to marry her. On the day of marriage, troops of the Britain and France get into Beijin. The marriage has to be delayed and HAM FUNG believes her words. CHUNG learns more from NG and he foretells that Hong Kong will become a very good place in the future……

CHI HEI uses trick to win back HAM FUNG's trust but HAM FUNG has become too weak and sick and at last he dies. Before he dies, HAM FUNG appoints SUK SHUN as Supervising Official. CHI HEI also lusts for power and authority and thus they have to compete for the rule. As CHI HEI is nearly defeated by SUK SHUN, she asks CHUNG to help her. CHUNG is discontented with SUK SHUN's attitude and CHI HEI has also exaggerated SUK SHUN's crimes, CHUNG decides to fight against SHAN.

SUK SHUN wants to kill CHUNG, claiming that he does so on behalf of HAM FUNG. However CHI HEI protects CHUNG as she is now Queen Mother. SUK SHUN is discontented and asks SHAN to get rid of CHUNG. SHAN curses CHUNG, making his condition deteriorate. He threatens CHUNG and forces him to stay away from CHI HEI, however CHUNG refuses. CHING misunderstands that CHUNG wants to be royal Ching Dynasty and sends people to kidnap him. As CHUNG does not know how to explain, he keeps his lips tight. Being his good friend, CHING does not kill CHING but just locked him up. CHI HEI realizes that CHUNG has disappeared and she asks KUNG to help her. However SUK SHUN does not allow them to meet. Taking his role as Supervising Official, he orders CHI HEI to stay away from the country's affairs. Hatred grows in CHI HEI's heart. CHI HEI secretly leaves the palace to meet KUNG……

After CHUNG's treatment with magic, CHI HEI gains a cunning and cruel character to fight against SUK SHUN. SUK SHUN poisons CHI ON and accuses CHI HEI. To prove that she is innocent, CHI HEI drinks the poisonous soup and she is cured by CHUNG. SUK SHUN wants SUNG CHI to receive the throne as soon as possible. However their plan is stopped by CHI HEI. SUK SHUN instructs SHAN to kill CHI HEI. She is nearly killed by lightning and thunder and she is saved by CHUNG, who is seriously hurt. CHUNG becomes unconscious and even FA KEI cannot wake him up. FA KEI brings CHUNG to SHAN but SHAN refuses to cure him. FA KEI is disappointed. With FA KEI's care, CHUNG wakes up at last. CHI HEI returns to the capital to consolidate her sphere of influence after KUNG has been kidnapped. SUK SHUN sends people to attack her in the name of Tin Lei Sect. However SUK SHUN is caught by CHING.

SUK SHUN's people lurk CHI HEI and she is saved by YU. YU questions CHI HEI where CHING is. CHI HEI tells him that she has not killed CHING. She spreads the news so as to make Tin Lei Sect to attack those Supervising Officials. She promises to make the royal family good if she has the authority. YU trusts her and lets her go. YU saves CHING when CHING is escorted to the capital. On the other hand, KUNG gathers evidence to prove SUK SHUK guilty, being assisted by Tin Lei Sect. With CHI HEI's order, they kill SUK SHUN. CHI HEI wants CHING to stay and help her but CHING has no interest in authority. CHING reminds CHI HEI to rule the country in a good manner and she promises. CHI HEI wants to kill SHAN and she changes her mind as CHUNG and FA KEI beg her. CHUNG is indifferent to the politics and he goes away and takes refuge in the countryside with FA KEI……

CHUNG rushes to find FA KEI and accidentally, he falls down a cliff. FA KEI wants to cure CHUNG but in vain. At last with NG's advice, she prays earnestly. As CHUNG and FA KEI have contradicting fates, NG arranges a freak death so that they can live happily together. When CHUNG wakes up, he goes to find FA KEI but she has jumped down a cliff. CHUNG is in deep grief. As CHI HEI is no longer being blocked by any opponents, her true character turns up and makes the country even worse. In the royal prison, SHAN understands the mystery OT "Dragonfly Dipping Water". He gives advice to CHI HEI to lengthen the rule of the royal family. CHI HEI releases him and orders him to continue his study. NG knows SHAN's plan and leads people to stop him. However he is hurt by SHAN.

CHING and other members of Tin Lei Sect fight the soldiers. Thinking that NG has been killed, they run away. NG is hurt and escapes. He arrives at Tsui Heng Village where he meets SUEN. He gives her hints that her descendant will save the country. After that he leaves happily. FA KEI is saved by a nun and the nun advises her that all should be governed by the ~ate. One should not oppose the arrangement. She is confused. CHUNG is sad to learn that NG has been killed by SHAN. ‧When he is depressed, he finds a mystery about the fate of Ching Dynasty. He tries to figure it out. On the other hand SHAN also gets known of it and wants to understand it as soon as possible so as to get rid of it. CHUNG learns from the message left by NG and discovers that all is related to SUEN's giving birth to CHUNG SHAN. Therefore, he goes to find SUEN and protect them……
