Base url either says invalid key or takes me to a blank page

Just got my API key and my project calls for the base URL 'https://api.themoviedb.org/3' but when I click the link it sends me to a blank page. I tried putting a forward slash after the 3 like 'https://api.themoviedb.org/3/' but when i click the link it says {"status_code":7,"status_message":"Invalid API key: You must be granted a valid key.","success":false}.

If you're trying to make an API call, neither of those are valid requests.
