The Movie Database Support

 Ongoing Maintenance

Dear TMDb Community,

In the next few months, you might notice some changes on our site. My primary goal is, and always has been, to build the best media database on the internet and in order for me to stay true to that goal, we will be making these changes to enable TMDb to be more robust and reliable than before.

As you might recall from my 2019 recap, I have some pretty amazing plans for 2020 so stay tuned for some really fantastic launches this year!

If you have any questions please contact us at support@themoviedb.org.

Sincerely,

Travis

Hello,

When adding /entering a new release date, the language field ends up filled with a Json string:

{"folded_name"=>"English", "english_name"=>"English", "iso_639_1"=>"en", "native_name"=>"English"}

It can only be fixed when editing the field.

This breaks API functionality because this same string ends up in the response.

I guess it would be a good thing to look into this and also check to see how many of these are there right now.

Thanks!

I already sent a warning to Travis Bell.
Thank you very much for your Report.

Is there a way to find them all? I just stumbled on (and fixed) 598133 and 716706 but I'm guessing there are a lot more out there.

I dont know.
Such a search would be done using Discover.
But I can't find a filter for this in Discover.
So I believe that, it remains to search all IDs, using get / movie / {movie_id} / release_dates, without defining language.
It is possible that there is another way smarter and faster.
But I can't imagine what it is.
If it exists, Travis Bell certainly knows what it is.

EDIT
An addendum
This language parameter is only required for countries that use multiple languages.
Canada = en + fr
India = hi + kn + ml + ta + te
Spain = ca + es + eu + gl
For countries with only one language, it is not necessary to add this data.

Apparently the problem has been fixed.
In an API Request I made, the field came with NULL, and not with JSON.
Could you test it if you find any other movie with this problem?
