The Movie Database Support

This is a nerdy concern of mine about the message boards.

I changed my user name on the web site a few times. When people pick my new name, Celluloid Fan, to respond to me from the drop down list after hitting "@", once they select the name, it changes to @Satch_the_man. Thus, my old, obsolete user name is displayed in their response to me. I thought I'd report this to you as a bug.

Always eager to make the site better,

Cell

Hi, Cell.

That issue is occurring as, despite that you quite a long time back changed your display name, you continue to technically be "Satch_the_man".

The issue should be able to be resolved to your liking. Travis is the only person who can fully replace a TMDb user's original username with a chosen different one. Travis throughout each week monitors the Support forum, so no doubt will see this thread.

Anytime any of us change our public display name via our account settings, it doesn't at all eliminate or change whatever the original username is, instead it simply creates like a cosmetic veneer regarding how we appear publicly presented. The person's TMDb account continues to identify them by the original username though. (On your account, you're still "Satch_the_man".) To get an original username to completely be eliminated and replaced, a request needs to be made to Travis for him to do so - which, assuming that's what you'd like to happen, this thread can serve that purpose. (Please confirm that you'd like Travis to fully replace your original username with new username "Celluloid Fan", if that's, indeed, what you'd like to happen.)

OK, thanks, genplant. I suspected such might be the case. This is my official request to Mr. Travis: Please replace my original username with "Celluloid Fan." Thanks.

Since this fell off the first screen, I figured I'd push it back up so Travis can see it.
