The Movie Database Support

Recently I've been noticing that clicking on the last poster name/tag on the thread Index page, doesn't always jump to the last page and last post as it's supposed to. Unless that behavior was intentionally changed, that's a bug/problem.

For example, at least right now, the last posts on some Star Trek threads ( https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/253-star-trek/discuss/category/5047951f760ee3318900009a?page=2 ) are on page 2 of those threads, but the last-poster link still points to page 1 ( "I Tried One Last Time" points to https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/253-star-trek/discuss/5db571d00792e10018401916?page=1#5db74e8d3faba0001437d783 and "If the cage had Been picked up." points to https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/253-star-trek/discuss/5d564d324bc38b350325dd7f?page=1#5db74f4f2d37210013e78a07 )

I noticed this problem a few days ago, but I thought it was a transient glitch, perhaps due to ongoing site renovation. Apparently it's more than just that, because it continues.

Yes, that's why I gave it some time before reporting it.

Hi, Knixon and PT.

I just now clicked on all the thread links above, then clicked on "Jump to last post" for each, and immediately was shot straight to the end of each thread.

I've long noticed that TMDb for me, via my computer (incidentally, if it may make any difference, I'm always solely on a PC, never on whatever other type device; also, I'm [still] on Windows 7, and access TMDb via Google Chrome), often doesn't experience certain issues that other people mention they're experiencing. Therefore I don't know whether operating system or something like that could perhaps be why both you and PT have noticed the problem that never happens for me.

Hopefully someone who sees this thread will have some ideas.

PS: In the event that what you've described was referring not to jumping to the end of a thread via the "Jump to last post" shortcut, but instead you're (I now suspect) referring to where, like on this screen, on the right-side column, there's the "Last Reply" name of whomever has last commented something, also that's no problem for me, as I've just now tried clicking on an array of different indicated "Last Reply" usernames, and each time was shot straight to the end of the thread in question.

The ones I posted specifically show Page 1 in the url, hard to see how that could be different depending on what program you use. And I just tried them again, they still go to Page 1, not the last post on Page 2.

I've experimented with each of your examples three times apiece, both the "Jump to last post" way and the "Last Reply" way (so that no matter which is the way you're referring to, that's precisely what I'd be checking about), and everything went perfectly each time, taking me straight to the final comment on whichever thread.

Clearly there's something going on for some users, since both you and PT have been experiencing it. Hopefully someone reading this thread will know a solution.

Here are (1, 2, and 3 are) the individual links you shared in the OP:

1) https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/253-star-trek/discuss/category/5047951f760ee3318900009a?page=2

2) https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/253-star-trek/discuss/5db571d00792e10018401916?page=1#5db74e8d3faba0001437d783

3) https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/253-star-trek/discuss/5d564d324bc38b350325dd7f?page=1#5db74f4f2d37210013e78a07

Those urls are showing page 1, but if they're jumping to page 2, that seems like another "bug" in itself.

@Knixon I moved your thread to the website support section. I'm experiencing/seeing the same issue. For example, a few mod threads incorrectly link to the first page (e.g. spam).

Thanks. I didn't see where to locate that section, although I've been there before. If there's not a link to 'web site help' on each main page, maybe there should be?

It's the next board down on the same support forums page, below where you originally posted. Btw, fwiw, I'm using Win 10 on a desktop PC and Chrome browser.

PT, do I recall correctly that you experienced something along the lines of this issue some months back - maybe around half a year ago? I keep feeling like I remember seeing a Support forum thread (started by I believe someone else, but that you commented on - and I thought I had, too) about this sort of matter. If such a thread exists, I'm so far having no luck locating it.

I get this when topics have multiple posts from users I have on Ignore. That said, as some of the people are experiencing this are mods, who presumably don't block users so that they can monitor transgressions, it's probably something different.

Perhaps having people on ignore, exacerbates the problem. But it can't be the cause. I have nobody on ignore.

Also, I can see having people on ignore causing you to jump to a too-early page. But this problem always sends me to page ONE, even on threads that might have 10 or more pages.

Same here: I've never had anyone on Ignore (not counting for a while back during the troll invasion of Spring 2017).

I wonder if rendered-invisible thread comments of users who were suspended could have anything to do with the issue? If I'm not mistaken, their comments remain counted, although no one can see them. Thus, if a suspended user had 5 comments on a page, but those comments no longer are visible, that maybe results in confused pagination?

I don't think that's the problem, because all the posts seem to be there, and I can get to the 2nd/3rd page eventually if I do it manually.

I just checked the problem again on two very long threads (one at GoT forum and one here), and it is no longer happening, apparently. Not sure if it was a lengthy transient problem or someone fixed it.
