I uploaded a higher resolution poster for English for this movie: https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/22672-sharpshooter/images/posters

There is a lower res one with slightly improper aspect ratio that sits in front of mine. How could I change this? I see there is a section titled "Primary?", but I see no options on my screen to do anything with that field. I assume that the higher resolution poster would be preferred.

Generally, TMDB relies on its users to up-vote the best posters to the top so that they are the ones that are displayed (and to down-vote the less ideal posters).

You can read about what TMDB considers "best" or ideal for posters in the image guidelines: https://www.themoviedb.org/bible/image.

Also, bad posters (as per the guidelines) should be reported so that a moderator can remove them. You can report a (bad) image by clicking the report button. Read about reporting images here: https://www.themoviedb.org/bible/general#59f793929251413e9300000d. Even if a poster, by TMDB's image guidelines, is not "bad", if there is a better quality, and/or, better cropped version of that image also uploaded, then that poster should be reported as a duplicate so that a moderator can remove the image.

Mods can designate a primary poster. But from my experience this isnt done too often (in most cases this site just relies on its users to up-vote the best image to the top). Only moderators can do this, regular users cannot. You can read about primary posters here: https://www.themoviedb.org/bible/image/59f7582c9251416e7100005f#59f758309251416e71000061.

In your case, to me, it looks like you uploaded a decent poster. The other English poster uploaded by Tyrael looks low quality, so I think it should be reported and removed as a bad (quality) image. Additionally, it is a duplicate of your better image, so it should be removed for that reason too.

EDIT: I have upvoted your image to the top, so it should be the one the site is now using.

All of what tmdb24407783 said is true, I definitely recommend anyone read the guidelines if they have any questions. I've removed lower quality image. Closing topic.

I am reopening for one reason. I do not like "reporting" something or someone for erroneous reasons. Just because the poster uploaded by a person might have been the best they had at the time (or the best they were willing to get), they did still contribute and upload missing content. I believe here is a more respectful way to do this. For example, you do not "report it" but you update it, or upgrade it. I believe every editor should be treated with respect unless they blatantly violate the common considerations of policy. You can close now, I just wanted to add my 2 cents on why I believe that reporting an image like this is wrong, again, in my opinion.

Reporting is just a system to get the moderators on this site to take a look at an issue and resolve it. The site wants high quality images and accurate information. Removing bad quality posters is not an erroneous reason. I dont think its any different to you opening this thread to ask about the images on that movie. The reason for the report system is so that things remain organised on the site and its easier for moderators to see the movie/tv the issue is about (when you make a report, that thread is attached to the movie/tv the report is made on, making it easier for the mods to see what you're talking about).

In this case, the report would just be to take a look at images that do not meet the image guidelines on this site and should be removed. In most cases the report is just to remove or edit content, its not about disrespecting the users who contribute those image/that info (unless the report is about a user who is spamming, consistently removing good info, etc. in which case it is reccomended that you set the thread to private:https://www.themoviedb.org/bible/general/59f792a29251413e93000001#59f792a29251413e93000002).

EDIT: I personally dont have a problem with the word "report" but I can understand why someone might find it harsh or think it automatically has a negative/accusatory connotation. But I think its a neutral enough word, especially in context to this site, and I dont see it as disrespecftul, and I dont see the need to change that word. It's the word that is used on the button you need to click for this messaging system that facilitates notifying mods about problems with movie/tv entries that need to be looked at. I think changing the word on that button to "update" or "upgrade" is confusing and is not as accurate. But maybe I'm wrong, maybe it would be a good idea to change it smile
