Yes. In most cases, the error message means that there is another entry with the name in the database to which the IMDb ID was already added.

What you should do now and I always do first -> search for the exact name that was shown in the error message! In your case, search for "Jimmy LeBlanc":

https://www.themoviedb.org/search?language=fr-FR&query=Jimmy+LeBlanc

You see, there are 2 different entries at the moment. You want to add the IMDb to this profile:

https://www.themoviedb.org/person/1616714-james-leblanc/edit?active_nav_item=external_ids&language=fr-FR

But the IMDb ID is already added to the other profile:

https://www.themoviedb.org/person/1784941-jimmy-leblanc/edit?active_nav_item=external_ids&language=fr-FR

All you have to do now is move the IMDb ID to the other profile and report the duplicate. Or, you could just report it, and one of us moderators will take care of it.

I'm not going to delete anything now so you can see what I explained.

Actually, it looks like it's a generalized issue. The error message link to the current profiles instead of the profiles with the IMDB IDs. (I thought the random ID I tried earlier worked, but maybe I got my wires crossed. )

Now I understand! But I never noticed this issue in the past. I guess you can only notice it if the names are (slightly) different and that might not happen that often?!?

Thanks janar for the explanation. As I made reports regarding duplicated actors I never find any problem before. I mean when I clicked on the link provided by the error message it always opened the TMDB actor page with the Imdb ID filled as mentioned by banana_girl.

I have just made the duplicated report for Jimmy Leblanc.

I have the same issue with this actor "Darrin Baker" : https://www.themoviedb.org/person/171726-darrin-baker?language=fr-FR

When I try to add the Imdb ID (nm0048370) to this actor, I have an error message and the link proposed send me to the same TMDB page. As you proposed janar, I made a seach with the exact name of this actor and I find this TMDB page for the same actor : https://www.themoviedb.org/person/1230994-darrin-baker?language=fr-FR where the ID Imdb is the correct one.

I can also report this duplicated actors but I think there is an issue to be investigated on the link proposed by the error message that should be to the TMDB actor page with the Imdb link that is normal behavior I noticed several times except for this 2 actors.

Hm, I never clicked on the provided link. I always go straight to search and type in the name. I'll have to test this the next time!

Yes, it happened to me today as well. Hopefully Travis can take a look and fix it.

This is fixed. The validation errors should link to the proper items now.
