The Movie Database Support

I use Infuse and added the Ghostbusters movie from 2016 to the library. Infuse will make an API call to the TMDB and classify the movie. Sounds simple and straight forward. The Ghostbusters movie was identified as the one from 1984 (https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/620-ghostbusters) whereas it should have been identified as https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/43074-ghostbusters since the keyword 2016 was added to the query as well.

When I search the website and query "Ghostbusters 2016" I get the correct title, when I search for "Ghostbusters y:2016" I get the wrong one. Same goes for "Embrace Of The Vampire y:2013" which should have returned just the one from that year, but got mislabeled as the Alyssa Milano vehicle.

Someone added an incorrect alternative title with the year (now deleted), which is why that worked. Now it's not working.

It seems all old Ghostbusters movies were re-released in some way in 2016, which is why that happens (on the website).

Same goes for "Embrace Of The Vampire y:2013" which should have returned just the one from that year, but got mislabeled as the Alyssa Milano vehicle.

Here, the 1995 version got a Blu-Ray release in 2013. The data is correct. With support for multiple release dates, these things are bound to happen every now and then.

I know an upgraded search on TMDb is planned for the future, but perhaps the best course of action here is to contact Infuse and ask how they can help you out.

Infuse has the ability to change the metadata in their library which I used to identify the correct title. I just thought it was strange that I tell to search for a specific year and I get the wrong one, whereas using the year as a query argument comes up with the right one.

Another movie that had me wondering was https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/101962-seance. The rest of the world says it is from 2011 (for example IMDB: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1796607/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1. The trailer on the page says 2011, yet this page gives it a different name and year...

Here it's impossible to get 2011 if there is no 2011 release date. On IMDb there are only two 2012 release dates added, but someone still set the movie to 2011 which appears to be incorrect. It's interesting that it's not possible to correct the data on IMDb (I tried).
