Yeah, right. If you believe Alexa ranks, then I've got a bridge in Brooklyn I'd like to sell you. Do you really think that 20% of visits are coming from Italy, and only 14% from the U.S.? Maybe you didn't read the fine print. This site's traffic is estimated, and:

"Not all websites implement our on-site analytics and publish the results. For these sites, we show estimated metrics based on traffic patterns across the web as a whole. We identify these patterns by looking at the activity of millions of web users throughout the world, and using data normalization to correct for any biases."

And even if the data were actually anywhere near accurate, I'll bet about 90% of those visits are from people adding/editing content, not actually using the site for information. The real unanswered question is how many folks use this site instead of IMDb for accurate, detailed information vs. forums.

Having said that, I think regular visitors are grateful to Travis and his designer, as well as to those who do add/edit content. They have all worked very hard to improve and flesh out the site. Kudos to them.

I don't personally use API, or even actually know what that is. But it appears, from general observation of TMDb Support forum threads throughout the last twelve months, that TMDb substantially attracts API users, which, in turn, results in many of them joining. I suspect they're not necessarily members we ever see on the movie/t.v./person message boards though.

It's now nearly the one year anniversary of the IMDb message boards closing and many of us joining here due to that event last February. The boards closing occurred at midnight, UK time, at the start of 20 Feb., which was 7p.m. on the night of 19 Feb., US Eastern time. Travis had opened TMDb's movie/t.v./person message boards at I believe the beginning of Feb. 2017. So this month marks the one year anniversary of any of those boards starting to get posting on them.

I frequently check (but never post on) this or that title-specific or name-specific board (the scraped past IMDb ones) that can be found at two competing sites, and repeatedly observe that we have far more discussion threads (ones created 20 Feb. 2017 to present), with more members having participated, regarding specific movie/t.v. titles and specific person names, than on either other site. (That having been said, those other sites have developed substantial popularity for having General Chat areas, that are, at any given time, bustling - yet those sites' title/name boards don't get much use, except for, of course, regarding current/recent movies or shows, and some especially popular past titles.)

As you said, Sixties, thanks to Travis, and his designer, for having built such a good and attractive site, that we're all appreciative for. Hopefully it'll be discovered by a lot more people, and our message boards become much more active, in time. I completely agree with you, that most people probably continue to check IMDb when seeking comprehensive cast lists, bios, reviews, trivia, etc. IMDb had nearly twenty years head start on TMDb, and has several million members, many who have been, or are, contributors of data, so definitely has an unquestionable lead regarding database content.

Just to back up what genplant29 said--

TMDB is a great website, and I am so glad that us IMDB "refugees" had someplace to go back in February of 2017.

Thank you, Travis!

Yes, it's yeah right because it's true.

It's gonna take some time, that's obvious. But TMDB keeps growing a lot.

Somewhere on TMDb, a week or so ago, I saw a list of our site's 5 or 6 most heavily used editing languages. Yesterday I searched all over, seeking to find that list again, but had no success. Even checked the Contribution Bible and several recent Support forum threads, but couldn't spot what I recall definitely having seen.

At any rate, the thing I specifically remember seeing is that English is (not surprisingly) TMDb's #1 language. German was listed as the #2 language. For Alexa to purport that a majority of site visitors - and by such a broad margin - are in Italy really doesn't seem credible.

German as the most used language in TMDB? Now hat's quiet shocking.

I remember that whatever it was I saw on TMDb a week or so ago indicated English as our site's most prevalent editing language, and German as second most prevalent. Unfortunately, I now have completely forgotten which other languages were listed after those two, though believe there were either 3 or 4 more.

Or this page:

By the way: There are only 7 hours left until your 1 year anniversary here on TMDb! astonished Have a nice party! tada

Hi, Janar - and thank you! grin Hard to believe twelve full months have already so quickly passed!

Thanks for those two links. It probably is one or the other page that I recall seeing the other week.
