Hurray! The 2017 recap is out!
Congrats to newbies @Janar and @speedycars for breaking into the top ten contributors! And I raise my hat to the unsurpassable @Paszt!
I want to thank my co-mods for the help and support during this great (but slightly exhausting) year. I don't know about you, but I am proud of all the work we accomplished. And bless whoever had the brilliant idea to create the help topics in the mod forum!!
@Travis Your dedication never fails to amaze me. I seriously do not know how you do it all. You did a lot of great work last year, but I have to say, that little notification system truly changed my life. Thanks for being so committed to making the database awesome(r)! And I apologize for the 1647895256 requests I made.
Happy new year everyone! May this year be better than the last.
p.s. Why the hate for MacGyver!?

I agree with all of the above.
An interesting side note: I almost had the same amount of edits as in 2016, but made it to second place then (number four this time).

Thank you so much @banana_girl. It means a lot to me to hear you say that and I really appreciate the kudos. I live and breath this project and the only thing I've ever tried to do is make it better. Every single day, that's all I do. I can't believe I've been doing this for 9 years now. I feel like things are just starting to get interesting.
I want to make sure to say thanks to you guys as well. 7/10 of the top 10 users are moderators and that shows me that there's a level of commitment and dedication that surprises and impresses me every single day. To not only you guys, but also every other person who has contributed to TMDb in their life I want to give a supreme thank you. Without your passion for media I probably wouldn't have had the chance to do this for 9 years.
Mad respect guys.

The consensus here and also at you-know-where is that the reboot is pale by comparison to the original 1980s series. Mainly because the original MacGyver character was humble and likeable, while the new one is arrogant and annoying.
p.s.: Sorry there's no PM feature here yet or I'd just reply to you alone instead of going OT.

better late than neverHappy year end wrap up party!Almost a year ago, I started to look for an alternative for you-know-what-site, and I ended up loving it here! Initially, I came for the forum discussions, eventually, I stayed for the database and the people around. Travis, you do a great job developing and improving all the features, and I'd like to thank you for all your work very much!
The same goes for all the mods and their engaging way to solve all the tiny and big riddles that I came up with for the last year - sorry about that.
And the same goes for everyone I had the pleasure to meet here - I can't remember anyone who was rude or disrespecting to me or my opinion, which means a lot in this time and age.
I'm a bit sad that the forum never really took off in the way that I wished it would - I wish I'd know why and how to fix, but I have no clue why people don't use the forums that I'm interested in. So, there's something to improve for the next year, I guess. Which isn't a bad thing at all, because who wants to live in a clean and perfect world ...
I also want to ask 2 specific things about the wrap articles and stats:
1.) Can anyone explain why the number of images added decreased?
It was 477,116 in 2016, and it's down to 386,989 in 2017 -> while the number of movies and tv shows added was higher! Is that because of the image size limitations? Or any other reason?
2.) Travis, do you have any numbers/stats about the discussion forums? For example, I'd like to know
2.1.) how many posts/discussions were made/created last year in total,
2.2.) which 5 movies/tv shows/persons had the most posts/discussions during the year,
2.3.) which 5 users made/created the most posts/discussions during the year.
Do you have any numbers about that?
Let's hug for a happy shiny year, people!
PS: @alltimemarr, how about we ban you for a day in this year so you won't overreach your edits? Are you okay with that?
