When searching for the 2015 movie "The Witch" (https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/310131-the-witch) using: http://api.themoviedb.org/3/search/movie?api_key=[mykey]&query=The%20Witch
The resulting "release_date" field for this movie is 2016, not the 2015 premiere date even though the premiere date is listed in the DB.
Is it possible to get the premiere date in the result instead of the theatrical date?

Hi there,
We don't automatically use the premiere dates as our official release dates. The way it works is by looking for release dates in this order:
In this case there's a limited or theatrical release so that becomes our official release date.

This is causing issues as IMDB and certain groups are using the Premiere date, is it possible to add a parameter to the query to prefer this date?

Unfortunately search does not support the release type filter at this time.
